Dear Associates:

I am working to promote the Stephen Norman Lynch Memorial Foundation of Fine Art and Literature, a cooperative, not-for-profit business dedicated to the support and stimulation of the Fine Arts and Literature which will feature and market the original and unique works of regional artists, craftsmen and women and other creative intellectuals. My goal is to help all associated with this endeavor to profit through their contributions, each according to their means.

Success depends upon your contribution of art, craft, material, time, effort and whatever else you may be able to share as an associate and volunteer. My goal is to establish an on line gallery and emporium to help everyone market their creative expressions. I need to know how you may be able to help and in what manner you would like to contribute to the SNL Foundation.

I have begun by establishing an on-line presence so that everyone may immediately begin to profit from their association. Please bookmark the SNL Foundation at http://www.byteland.org/snl/foundation.html (this page) for future reference.. You may also contact via email at SNL Foundation.

Please see membership application to join and exhibit your work on-line! Each exhibiting artist will receive the equivalent of one web page which will feature the artist, three original works of art, sculpture, ceramics, crafts or other fine art and design. Plus each artist should provide a personal photograph showing them with their work and any other brochures, resumes, articles about their work or other literature which may be reprinted or published to help promote the artist.

Please write and let me know what form of contribution you may be able to make. In addition to monetary contributions from business associates and benefactors, members will be needed to contribute work for display and exhibit, including work which may be marketed on-line. As this is a cooperative effort, those who wish to establish an association will be expected help as their means may permit. Basically I need to know what level of commitment you are able to make, to contribute toward the success of the SNL Foundation.

I will need photographs of at least three works of art from each member to display in an on-line gallery; these may be submitted via email or sending a photograph to scan. I would also like a photograph of each contributor with their art, craft or sculpture. I am asking each exhibiting artist to contribute $75.00 as an initial membership and exhibit fee (or $25.00/entry); this may be wavered or reduced for students are artists who have a hardship or disability.

Please reply by sending your entries and membership/exhibit fee. Also please relate how you may most be able to help in the future. Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,

Terry Lynch
Director

History of the SNL Memorial Foundation

The SNL Memorial Foundation was created in fond memory of my most loved brother, Stephen Norman Lynch, who died unexpectedly in a pedestrian traffic accident; i.e., he was struck by a speeding truck on a rural Alabama highway and died instantly Nov. 1, 1973.

Stephen, who was an Army brat and son of Lt. Col. Leonard P. Lynch and La Faye S. Lynch lived much of his life in Alabama and Florida. Stephen was a self-taught artist and illustrator who greatly appreciated Art History and the study of the Old Masters. The night before he died he went to the Houston Cole Library on JSU campus and checked out Art books which he studied late into Halloween evening. The next morning he woke up early and went down to the campus to meet his girlfriend; not able to locate her, he went to the Student Union for some coffee. There a juvenile, Jeff Wilkerson, allegedly put some some window pane acid in his coffee which resulted in his death later that afternoon along a rural Alabama highway.

Although Stephen's life came to a tragic and sudden end that first day of November, 1973, his life was lived as a creative spirit, drawing, sketching and painting since he was a young child. He love people dearly and reflected his love, his happiness, his joy, his sadness and the frustrations of a struggling artist in his work. Stephen's work and struggles are a reminder of how much one can achieve with so little and of how important it is to keep our young men, women and children from becoming victims of drugs which can distort their perception, rob them of their minds and result in their untimely deaths at a very young age.

Originally the SNL Memorial Foundation was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in Florida in 1978 and sponsored several art festivals in Gainesville, Florida. This included the Summer Sun Fest held in 1979 and the first art festival at Oak's Mall which was attended by over 10,000 people! The SNL Foundation was also instrumental in the publication of three poetry anthologies which were among the first "diskette books" of this type every published!

Today the SNL Memorial Foundation has been reborn as an on line cooperative effort to support, promote and foster Fine Art and Literature. This will include the sponsorship of art guilds and other endeavors which may directly help those creative intellectuals associated with these activities.

The SNL Memorial Foundation is accepting new members; please complete and submit your application today. Thank you!
