No area should be over looked or given priority; rather, all areas and people who need help should be given attention. Having survived hurricane Katrina and seeing its damage first hand, I immediately realized that it was going to be necessary to rebuild much of Mississippi and Louisiana, that promotion of this ides was necessary to insure that Mississippi and Louisiana would be rebuilt and that no one be left behind.
About a month after the Rebuild Mississippi and Rebuild Louisiana design campaigns were launched upon the Internet, the State of Mississippi followed suit with "Mississippi Rising," a major fund raising effort to help hurricane victims. Although it might be argued that a degree of plegery was involved, I prefer to think that my own efforta to motivate others were quite effective in that politicians, celebrities and the State of Mississippi picked up the banner and were motivated to follow through to help the people of Mississippi.
Certainly rather than quibble about who was first to champion a good cause, I simply ask everyone to help, to do what they can to rebuild, neighbor helping neighbor, hand in hand. In this regard businesses, churches, clubs, groups and other organizations are urged to help sponsor and promote the effort to rebuild Mississippi and Louisiana. Ask yourself how you can help, what you can do to help your neighbor? Then take action, whether it be to give money to charity, to help a neighbor cut and remove trees, clean up debris or sponsor efforts to rebuild Mississippi. Please do whatever you can and know that God blesses you for your service to others and the community!
