Dear Friends,
Three years ago my dear mother, La Faye S. Lynch, the daughter of Columbus LaFayette Sumner, a Methodist minister, and faithful wife of Lt. Col. Leonard P. Lynch, had a stroke. I was with her at the time and when she became unconscious I prayed to God to spare her life. I was certain she was going to die and after calling 911 waited anxiously for the para-medics while continuing to pray. I asked God to please spare her life and as I felt her pulse and breath I suddenly felt her coming back to life. Then miraculously she opened her eyes as the door bell rang singling that the para-medics had arrived.
God had answered my prayers and my mother opened her eyes and spoke. She did not want to go to the hospital, but wanted to stay at home. However, I insisted that the para-medics take her to the hospital. I followed the quickly, signing all the papers at the emergency room for her treatment. I authorized tube feeding and blood transfusion which I'm told saved her life. But I know it was really God's intervention which saved her life when He answer may prayers as I waited in such desperation for the para-medics to arrive.
My mother's ill health and poor condition were brought about as a direct result of 50 odd years of smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol. This caused her to lose her teeth by the age of 46 and led to a host of health problems and illnesses. After a three week stay in the hospital, I followed the doctor's recommendation that she be placed in a nursing home where she was admitted as a temporary patient to complete her recovery. Then something very ironic happened; people started accusing me and blaming me for my mother's condition! The court, in its infinite wisdom, went against my mother's expressed and written wishes and directives and appointed non-relative lawyers as guardian/conservator. This resulted in loss of power and control over all family income, assets and eventually my home!
It was my prayers which God answered and my actions which saved my mother's life. If anyone is to blame for her poor health and deplorable condition it is the big tobacco companies! But not one red cent has been received from them in compensation. All I have is the love and belief in God which my mother gave to me when at an early age she told me, "God is Love!"
I wanted to share this testament with everyone that they know God does answer prayers. There are times in life when no one can help, when you are alone and only God is with you. At these critical moments it is important to ask God for help. He has a plan for everyone and although we may not realize what it is, each day miracles happen and God answers our prayers. Perhaps His plan in bringing my mother back to life to enjoy a few more years was to show us all that life is in His hands, that we must treat our bodies with reverence, not pollute them with tobacco products, alcohol or drugs; that then we each will suffer less in our golden years and our own children will not be falsely blamed for our poor health.
Please feel free to share this with other family, friends, church members and readers. I have also established a web site at www.byteland.org/cancer/ to help educate and inform people and encourage them to stop smoking. Not only did smoking cause my mother's ill health and suffering, it was directly responsible for my father's death of congestive heart failure, having robbed him of 30 years of his life! This is why my mother who loved him so dearly did not enjoy his company during the later part of her life!
God has given us each life and His love to share with others. It is important that we remember this and do not blame others for our own mistakes, problems or foolishness. Certainly everyone, especially those who are involved with elderly care, should remember this, that they not blame any of God's children for conditions of their parents or grandparents who are responsible for how they have chosen to live their lives and how this contributes to their own condition as they grow older. This is also why every state should have laws which permit each person to assign their own guardian/conservator, as when judges are given this power it too often results in corruption and their playing God with people's lives.
I have told my mother's story and posted it on the Internet at www.byteland.org/era/ hoping that others may gain insight to the many problems associated with growing old. But of greatest importance is keeping one's faith and remembering that God is holding us each in His arms, that when there seems no hope, then is the time to pray for His help, as your prayers will be answered in so many ways that none can fathom.
Sincerely,
Terry Lynch

Donations of any amount up to $10,000.00 may be accepted. If you have never used PayPal before, just click on the above link, open an account and then you can make a donation.

I have also created a Lemonade for Life campaign which has additional information on how everyone can help raise funds and awareness to help fight cancer, heart disease and other illness. Also at the Project K9 site there is information which may be helpful if you have a dog that has lymphoma.
It can often be depressing and frustrating when you know a loved one who has cancer, be it a person or a most love canine companion. Often all we can do is share our heart, our love and prayers. Having seen my share of heart break I've also created a Gift of Love site. This site has Christmas greetings, carols and other tolkens of peace, love and affection which you may share. You will also find a copy of the "Canine Blessing." I may post other blessings or gifts of love here in the future. Please feel free to share this link with your family, friends and loved ones.
Thank you again for your generous help, support and gift of love! My prayers are with you!
Peace and love,
Terry Lynch
