Have A Heart Adopt A Dog!

Specializing in German Shepherd Dog Rescue & Support

GSD Rescue Center The GSD Rescue Center is a nonprofit effort to promote the adoption and rescue of German Shepherd Dogs and other homeless dogs.

German Shepherds make great working and companion dogs. They are very trainable, intelligent, loyal and lovable. Many German Shepherds that are properly trained work as service dogs for the police, military, guide the blind and even Home Land Security to sniff out bombs, drugs and to prevent terrorist attacks. It is a waste to destroy these valuable dogs which have a long history helping to serve, protect and save lives. Responsible guardians are needed to adopt German Shepherd today. Please visit your local animal shelter or animal control agency and adopt a German Shepherd today!

No Space Available Thousands upon thousands of wonderful dogs are in shelters across America. Many will be put down simply because there is not enough effort made to find them responsible guardians. Please, if you can adopt a dog, visit you local shelter and take a loving dog home with you. Many dogs which will otherwise be put down will make great life long companions. Have a heart! Adopt a dog!

GSD Rescue & Support If you operate a shelter or rescue group and need help raising funds, promoting your organization, advertising or marketing your services or dogs which are available, GSD Rescue Center and Project K9 may be able to help. If you are trying to find someone to adopt a dog, please research each dog and provide a complete and accurate history and profile of the dog if this is known. Support Canine Rescue

Please help support your local and area animal rescue groups, organizations and efforts. There is always a need for donations, volunteers and other forms of support. Please contact your local or area animal rescue to see how you can help. If you cannot adopt a dog, please give financial or other support.

Here are some ways you can help:

  1. Donate money. Animal rescue groups always need money.
  2. Organize temporary boarding for dogs in need of rescue. Both individuals and local veterinarians should be able to contribute in this manner as means permits.
  3. Get area businesses involved. Some may be able to donate such items as dog food.
  4. Ask area radio stations and television stations to feature dogs in need of adoption. Regular features during new hours is a great way to help find responsible guardians for dogs in need of rescue.
  5. Ask church groups to help organize a rescue ministry to help with all aspects of canine rescue.
  6. Donate vehicles to rescue groups or organizations.
  7. Donate fencing or other building materials as may be needed to help with kennel construction.
  8. Help prevent the necessity for animal control by practicing responsible canine guardianship: spay and neuter; do not let your dog run at large; keep your dog in a fenced yard at all times always walking your dog on leash and train your dog in basic obedience.

Save A Dog

Please help save a dog today. Many dogs need responsible guardians. This means you need to have the qualifications, experience, financial means, resources (a home with a fenced yard) and knowledge to be a good care provider for a dog for the duration of its life. There may be additional qualifications required by various adoption providers. If you believe this describes you, then please consider adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue organization. Thank you!

Special Tribute

Jade, 84 in people years, died of natural causes 12 Feb., 2009

Click on Jade to visit his homepage.

Bahnbrecher Jade von Talhaus. This is the last photo every taken of Jade. He was resting in his yard, always on constant guard, extremely alert and aware of everything around him. Jade was a great dog and a very loyal companion! He will be sorely missed. Jade died at 3:20 AM on 12 Feb. 2009 from natural causes. He would have been 12 years old on March 6th. He lived a good life and was a loyal companion to the very end. I loved Jade very much. He did not suffer and has gone to that great dog house in the sky. I petted and kissed him goodbye and buried him in the backyard close to where this last photo of Jade was taken.

Jade served as "The most illustrious guide dog in cyberspace" for 12 years, helping to guide canine lovers around the Internet and provide help and informations to many people. With the loss of Jade, Project K-9 needs a new mascot. If you would like to donate a GSD puppy to serve as the next Project K-9 mascot please contact Terry. Your puppy will have a very good home with a large fenced yard and master who if very familiar with German Shepherds, who knows how to train dogs and treat them with humanely with love and affection. You and your kennel is guaranteed to get much good publicity, recognition and traffic if you donate an AKC German Shepherd to Project K-9.

Donate a GSD to Project K-9. Contact Terry. You will receive a tax credit equal to the declared value of the dog you donate. To qualify, a puppy must have full AKC registration, be over 8 weeks old, have a good temperament, have all vaccinations and be vet checked to be free of worms or other diseases, and show potential to accelerate in obedience training to serve as a working dog around children, the elderly or incapacitated. We may also consider adopting a healthy GSD that has good temperament, no behavior problems, and if over 2 years old has been X-rayed and determined to have no hip dysplasia.
