Boycott Made In China Products K9 Killers!

I would like to urge all consumers and especially all dog owners, breeder and canine lovers, to join the Boycott China campaign. As a German Shepherd owner, dog fancier and founder of Project K9 (http://www.byteland.org/projectk9/index.html), my first reaction to learning about the brutal killing of over 50,000 dogs was to boycott Red China. Of course there are many other reasons to boycott Red China including human rights violations, cruelty to animals in general and the fact that their missiles may be pointed at us!

As long as there is not a free press in Red China and a democracy, it is impossible to have a full and informed view of what goes on behind the scenes, and in this case that is the entire nation. I view a boycott of Red China as not "crazy," but a sound, reasonable and logical action with both economic and political consequences.

I am quite aware of what doing business in Red China involves. Please understand that with regard to the Boycott China campaign this is not directed against the people of Red China, but against the corrupt communist regime. I am quite aware of the fact that the people of Red China are not empowered and that the system of government is corrupt at all levels. Also I am aware of the fact that canine byproducts from Red China are marketed on an international level using English language name brands, a fact which our own laws regarding word/phrase trademarks permits. I have discussed this and related issues as may effect creative artists who use the Internet to market their original work and pointed out the fact this empowers corrupt business enterprise around the world. See:

As a graphic designer I have also encountered cases where my own design products were pirated and mass produced in Red China and marketed internationally. Also I am aware if the fact that many products made in Red China and other third world nations which use child labor and/or pay slave labor wages and may market canine byproducts which carry trademarks that use English language names because this enables them to be accepted in the market place. Dealing with these and related issues is not new to me; I have been aware of corrupt businesses practiced in these regards for some time.

With regard to a boycott of the Olympics, I agree that this may be an effective focus. In fact, I called for such action with regard to the Olympics in Italy after my original snowflake designs were censored because the Olympic committee got a trademark on the name of the city and year where the games were held. No one can market a design that says the name of a city and the date where an Olympics is scheduled because now the Olympics committee are getting trademarks on the date and city names where the games are held. As they are a powerful and rich institution they can easily do this since the US trademark laws now permit word and phrase trademarks rather than just logo trademarks.

This also means that the Olympic committee can prevent the marketing of material which boycotts the Olympics and cites the city/date under consideration; so trademarks on names and phrases can be used to censor freedom of speech in this regard and prevent an effective boycott of the games. We have, in effect, empowered corruption by allowing foreign agents to obtain word/phrase trademarks and thereby market English language named products in America, be they related to the Olympic, animal byproducts, endangered species, etc., -- and in so doing have empower those who wish to censor boycotts which to be effective must use designs.

Take a stand by encouraging everyone to boycott the Olympics to be held in Beijing during the summer of 2008!

I agree that to Boycott the Games 2008 in China is a reasonable response in so far as it may help get the attention and ear of corrupt communist government officials. But as a graphic designer I am limited in what designs may be produced and marketed in these regards. The designs which I have produced in this regard do not use the term "Olympics" or the name of the city "Beijing" or the date "2008" so avoid any trademark infringement. Yet that means about all one can do is put "Boycott the Games 2008" on a communist Chinese flag, which is exactly what I have done. The problem is promoters who glorify the Olympics by putting the Olympic rings on a design that says "Beijing 2008" will make millions of dollars in profits and those who wish to protest will make very little, if nothing. So because of trademark laws in the United States it is more profitable to support the Olympics in Beijing than boycott the Olympics; i.e., it is more profitable to support a nation which has a long history of human rights violations and cruelty to animals than to protest via a boycott! This irony enabled by idiotic laws is destroying America and contributing to the hurt and harm of millions of people and animals around the world!

The Boycott K9 Killers Made In China designs I have created have been made with a very good knowledge of trademark issues and serve to target the primary issue, the brutal killing of tens of thousands of dogs in Red China. I realize that the killing of tens of thousands of dogs is China is driven by corruption and marketing of canine byproducts, probably to a greater extent than anyone is aware of, given the media blackouts imposed in Red China related to this issue. You simply do not find canine furs on designer merchandise with English brand names in stores everywhere unless this involves an enormous industry driven enterprise. One then only needs to apply logic to the question; from where do all these canine furs or byproducts come? If you then believe that tens of thousands of canines in Red China are being killed because of a relatively few case of rabies, then you have been conned!

The Red Chinese are experts in propaganda. They are also good at business. They know how to control information and how to use strategy based upon the Art of War in the marketplace to achieve victory; in this case which may be translated to power and control or world domination. The issue of brutality to dogs is only a small factor in the equation. The reason to boycott China ultimately relates to causing a change in regime and over throw of the communist government and the establishment of a democracy in Red China. Therefore I have expressed this factor in regard to the call for a boycott of Red China in the series of designs I have produced which you may review at Boycott Made In China.

My position is NOT to negotiate with a corrupt regime but to encourage the people of Red China to revolt and over throw that government. I have made this perfectly clear in both my published writings and designs. I also believe it is a big mistake to permit English language word/phrase trademarks to be used upon products not Made In USA, as this is simply a way to empower communist governments or other off shore enterprise which may be hostile to the United States, a policy which ultimately hurts Americans.

Certainly, and perhaps because people are a business persons with dealings in China, they have overlooked or not stressed the fact that the communist government must ultimately be ousted in order to solve the problems related to cruelty to animals and human rights violations. That issue I would think would be paramount to the corrupt communist government that is in power in Red China. Therefore I have associated the call for a boycott of China with the call for a change in power and ousting the communist government.

This is one reason I have also used the flag of the Peoples Republic of China upon a number of my designs; this immediately identifies and associates a call for a boycott with the objective to overthrows the corrupt communist government. This goes way beyond the issue of merely boycotting the Olympics in China; it strikes a deadly blow at the heart of the issue which is the corrupt communist government in Red China.

The only way to effect a change of government in Red China is from within, meaning that the message must be carried to the people, to those average citizens who will directly benefit by being empowered themselves through the establishment of a democracy in Red China. Perhaps if it is realized that there is greater profit in operating as a democracy than in operating behind an iron curtains as is now being done in much of Red China, then that change in power will come about sooner rather than later as it has in the former Soviet Union.

Best regards,
Terry Lynch
