In the beginning there was peace, love and tranquility the whole world over. Today there is war. Tomorrow there will be more war. Unless people decide to make only peace and love, there will always be war. The only way to end war is to make a conscious decision to be a peace maker, to be a love maker.
1. How did the World Peace Project begin? The World Peace Project (WPP) is a grassroots effort to promote peace and love the whole world over. The WPP began back in the 1960's. A book was written entitled "Peace Poems" by the founder of the WPP. The World Peace Project is really an outgrowth of that book of poems and related concerns of the author.
2. What can I do to help establish world peace? If you are reading this you have already taken the first step. By deciding you want to help establish world peace you have made the choice to move in that direction. In this regard there are many steps you may take in the future. Certainly one of them is to promote the WPP. Please visit the WPP Store and purchase an item to help promote peace and love the whole world over. Also visit the Peace Symbol Gallery for the newest, most popular peace symbol designs. Each item you purchase will give one-doller to the WPP to help maintain this web site and work for peace and love. But more importantly, when you display WPP designs you will be promoting peace and love and getting people to think about peace and love. That is a beginning, a first step toward bringing peace and love to the whole world.
3. What are some other things I can do to help bring peace to the world? Certainly you can pray. If everyone prays for peace then it will make a difference and move the world in the direction of peace and love. This works because when people are praying for peace and thinking about love, they are not making war. Prayer can be a power tool, a method of getting people together to work toward a common goal. Imagine if thousands and millions of people have prayer groups and rallies for peace. Soon others will begin to notice and the idea of peace and love will spread around the world. So praying for peace and love the whole world over is something everyone can do.
4. Can one person make a difference? Yes, certainly one person can make a difference. In fact YOU can make a difference. By promoting peace and love you add one more candle of hope, one more light to the darkness. So in this regard you can make a BIG difference. Everyone is asked to express their desire for peace and love by doing exactly that, making the peace symbol with their hands, making the love symbol with their fingers, and doing other creative projects to promote peace and love. For example, you might organize a group of people to pray for peace and love. Or you might display a peace symbol where others may see this. You will find some very nice items which are designed to promote peace and love the whole world over in the WPP Store.
“If we are to reach real Peace in this World, we shall have to begin with the children”
Mahatma Gandhi
5. Is not the idea of peace unrealistic since 9/11? Certainly not! The road to peace is even more important since 9/11. The reason 9/11 happened is because others have preached hatred and violence. Ultimately the only way to win the war on terrorism is to preach peace and love, to make the peace symbol a univeral lesson plan. That is the goal and method of the World Peace Project. The more people who promote peace and love than the less violence and terrorism there will be in the world. It is as simple as that. When enough people start promoting peace and love then the causes of terrorism will vanish, for you cannot have terrorism if there are no terrorists. Obviously if young people and their elders around the world all focus upon making peace and love, terrorism will die, for there will be no terrorist left.
6. What else can I do to help? Everyone is asked to link their home page or Internet site to the WPP (this site) at http://www.byteland.org/wpp/index.html. The more people who learn about the WPP and decide to make peace and love, then the faster the world will become a better place, one ruled by peace, not war, one ruled by love, not terrorism.
7. Where can I get more information about the World Peace Project and peace movements? Check this site for updates. There are many sources of information about peace and the peace movement. Below you will find peace movement links.
