One does not grow up in America without becoming exposed to team sports and the healthy rivalry which may exist between teams. Having been raised in Alabama I was always keenly aware of the love for football and the rivalry between Auburn and Alabama. Then when I later studied at the University of Florida I became a Gator fan, mortal enemies of the Seminoles. As a graphic artist and designer, founder of Quality Graphics by TAL, I quickly learned how to express the passion fans bring to the football stadium, baseball field or other sports arena. The lessons I learned in creating Gator Graphics and Alabama/Auburn Art apply to any teams or team rivalry nation-wide. One lesson I learned early on is that in the design of sports graphics one needs to use original designs. It is often necessary to obtain a license, especially if one is using the name, logo or colors of a team which has been trademarked. In other cases where a design is original but associated with a team, one may need to register their own trade mark to protect their product line.
