There are over 8-billion people in the world and we are burning fossel fuel at an alarming rate which is the cause of global warming. The most effective way to stop global warming is to plant rapidly growing trees. The Miracle Oak Tree offers an easy and effective solution to global warming as this is a rapid growing tree that can reach over 100 feet high when mature.

This variety of oak tree (Quercus nigra L. -- Fagaceae -- Beech family) may live over 100 years. These tree provide a large canopy that provides shade and may serve as a home for squirrels, birds and other small animals. These trees also can provide lumber to build homes. Plus each mature tree can produce millions of acorns which are edible! Hence planting acorns from the Miracle Oak Tree is the perfect solution for global warming.
If everyone plants just one acorn we can Save the Planet within our generation! Please help Save the Planet by planting acorns from the Miracle Oak Tree today!

This makes a great classroom project. Each student can be given an acorn from the Miracle Oak Tree. When the acorn germinates it may be transplanted outdoors. Students may watch the tree grow over their lifetime and one day will be able to show their children the tree they planted and tell them how they helped Save the Planet.
Because each tree is able to produce millions of acorns which in turn are distributed by animals and grow into more grand oak trees, your act of planting a single tree is like planting an entire forest over time. Please help Save the Planet today by planting an acorn from the Miracle Oak Tree!

This particular tree has proven itself as a great buttressing master. It has a trunk that measures 3.3 feet in diameter near the base. This broad trunk extends upward some 21 feet before branching; at the apex the tree is approximately 103 feet high, with broad and dense canopy which provides much shade. This particular tree withstood the hurricane force winds of Katrina which toppled many similar species trees from the gulf coast through central Mississippi. Hence it makes sense to select the premium acorns from this majestic water oak, and to propagate them over a lesser tree that has not proven itself against the storm of the century! The Great MS Golden Leaf Water Oak may be expected to grow in the hardiness ranges 6-9 shown on the map below.

Save the Planet is an independent, not-for-profit grassroots effort. All proceeds are reinvested in Save the Planet projects to give everyone a way they can contribute to making our world a better place. Thank you for your patronage and support!

Planting Instructions: Acorns from The Great Mississippi Golden Leaf Water Oak express deep, rich coloration and will produce a strong, hardy tree. Plant sets of acorns in a large flower pot of moist potting soil; they germinate in 30-70 days, depending upon temperature and daylight lenght. These water oak seeds have a 60-94 percent germination at 68 degrees F; you may also plant them outdoors in seed beds which may result in better germination. Keep soil moist, but not soaked. Acorns may be planted just beneath the soil or pressed one-half way into soil, as this is the manner nature plants them. Water as necessary to maintain moisture. If grown indoors it may help to cover the top of the pot with a clear plastic bag to avoid too much evaporation due to low indoor humidity. Some people like to use stratification (cold storage) prior to planting in pots. This can be done by soaking acorns in water 24-48 hours; then place in a zip-lock bag with moist soil, sand or paper towels. Set in lower vegetable storage compartment inside refrigerator for 60 days or until acorns begin to germinate. Once acorns germinate, seedlings may be transplanted to separate large, 5 gallon flower pots or transplanted outdoors. Usage of an organic fertilizer is recommended for seedlings to avoid root damage. Place a fence barrier around seedlings to protect them from damage by lawn mowers; a wooden or metal pole may also be used to mark the seedlings and help support young trees as they grow.

Memorial Tribute to Mrs. Betty Fitz-Gerald The late "Miss. Betty" Fitz-Gerald was a strong advocate for planting trees and served as the Goodwill Ambassodor for Montgomery, Alabama in her senior years. I attended a number of Arbor Day tree plantings and dedications at which Miss. Betty spoke, encouraging the planting of trees to beautify the community. Miss. Betty was a kind, generous and very reverent person who influenced and inspired me to appreciate the value of Arbor Day and planting tree. May others here your call from beyond the grave, Miss. Betty, to plant a tree! (TAL 7 Dec. 2008)
