Friends of Quitman Public Library is a private, not-for-profit membership organizaton (not a charity and currently does NOT have a tax exempt status) formed for the following purposes:

• To foster community wide support of the Quitman Public Library

• To sponsor events, workshops, book signings, readings, speakers, dinners, parties or other activities and/or social functions which may help stimulate interest in the public library, reading, education and literature in general

• To raise funds which may be used, donated and/or loaned to the library for the purchase of books, videos, DVDs, audio tapes, software, computers or other office equipment and supplies as well as to provide for the conduct of all business and activities related to the Friends of Quitman Public Library

• To participate in and foster educational activities, events and functions of benefit to children, seniors and adults of all ages, especially as my relate to reading, writing and the humanities

• To provide awards, scholarships, recognition or other benefits to students and members of the community for their achievement, work or significant and generous contributions

• To provide an online educational and informational resource and web site with links to libraries, director of libraries, digital and ebook publishers, book stores, maps, museums or other online material and information that may be of general benefit to children, students or adults as an aid in learning and enlightenment

• To generally help support and promote the public library, encourage interest in the library and provide an organization though which all concerned citizens and members of the community may help and aid the public library

Anyone who supports the purposes of the Friends of Quitman Public Library may be a member.

Membership shall not be restricted or limited in any way whatsoever by race, religion, ethnic or national origin or by sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental impairment or impediment and shall be open to all people without discrimination whatsoever toward them for any of the aforesaid reasons.
