SUBJECT: No Justice In Impeachment Trial!
There is a disturbing similarity between the partisan action to impeach and remove president Clinton from office and the hatred and bigotry which characterized Mc Carthyism. However in this case republicans are not calling President Clinton a communist; rather, they are using unsubstantiated accusations and Ken Starr's unfair investigative techniques to call President Clinton an immoral lier, an adulterer, a womanizer and other horrible names!
These same anti-Clinton impeachment advocates strongly disapprove of Clinton's politics. They do not like the fact Clinton has very close relations with black people, that one of Clinton's personal friends and advisers, Vernon Jordan, is a black man. Nor do they like the idea that President Clinton consults Rev. Jessie Jackson for spiritual advice. In the minds of Old South conservative republicans these associations give President Clinton that most grossly offensive and profane of labels, "nigger lover!"
Similarly Old South republicans hate the idea that President Clinton advocates a "no ask, no tell" policy regarding homosexuals in the military. In fact members of the Christian Coalition who view homosexuality as ungodly, would have President Clinton impeached and removed from office on these grounds; that is, that homosexuals in the military weaken our armed forces.
Yet one of the primary unspoken reasons over zealous republicans would like to see President Clinton impeached is because of his views on abortion. Forget the allegations that Clinton lied under oath and obstructed justice. His real crime, Right to Lifers would say, is advocating freedom of choice.
Since conservative republicans could not win at the polls they will do anything to oust President Clinton from office. Their hate for Clinton's liberal values and politics is the driving force behind impeachment and the call to remove Clinton from office. If you listen closely you will hear the cries behind closes doors. They are the same foul mouth shouts bigots have herald since reconstruction: "Lier! Pervert! Nigger lover! Faggot! Homo! Sinner!"
Yet all President Clinton has really done is love his fellow man and woman. Isn't it strange some who call themselves Christians would crucify President Clinton for treating his fellow man with that same brotherly love taught by Jesus Christ? Where there is such hypocrisy and bigotry there can be no justice in any trial to decide President Clinton's fate!
