Letter to the Editor
SUBJECT: Forgive and Forget President's Inappropriate Sex After watching President Clinton's apologetic speech to the nation, I agree that the people of this great nation should forgive the President and forget that the matter of sex with an intern ever became a public affair. But in our forgiving the President we should not forget that it was a politically motivated prosecutor bent on destroying the President who caused this embarrassment. Kenneth Starr has exceeded all limits of reasonable justice in pursuing an investigation into the President's personal life. Now that the President has confessed and apologized to the nation, Starr will undoubtedly continue to do what he believes is his duty and seek to destroy not only the President, but the Presidency. Because the President is truly an honorable man, with a desire to preserve his marriage and his family, I do not believe President Clinton will permit Starr to further destroy his personal, private life or the Presidency. If Starr and Republicans bent on destroying the Presidency proceed with talk or action about impeachment, I believe the President will simply resign. Actually such a resignation will be a victory for the Democrats. It will make Al Gore our 43rd President of the United States and insure Gore's election as an incumbent in the year 2000. Moreover it will free Bill Clinton to do what he does best: travel around the country, give speeches and raise money for the Democratic party. So, Republicans, the choice is your. Either accept Clinton's apology and forgive him for an extramarital affair or resolve to have Al Gore as the next President well into the 21st century.
