Letter to the Editor
SUBJECT: Who Is Starr Paying Off? On Aug. 17th President Clinton testified before Kenneth Starr's Grand Jury. By the time this letter is printed everyone will know the results of that testimony, either via the unscrambling of secured transmissions by hackers or leaks to an army of reporters, some whom may be undercover agents or informers working for Kenneth Starr. I'm very concerned that reporters, free lance or otherwise, would be working for Kenneth Starr. That would explain why Kenneth Starr wanted privilege with respect to release of information provided by confidential informers who are reporters. What I'd like to know is who these rogue reporters are and what media they represent? Is Starr paying these reporters for information? Do these reporters carry press cards for a major print or broadcast emdia? Or do they represent a politically biased, republican sponsored publication? Are they in fact spies for Starr, working in his employee, for money or favors... favors in the form of leaks? If Starr is leaking confidential testimony to the press does this constitute a violation of First Amendment rights to a free press? I ask this because by leaking information to reporters Starr is, in effect, conning the press and writing his own state sponsored view of what the news should be. He might as well be paying reporters and publishing his own newspaper entitled The Starr Inquisition. When a special prosecutor is given unlimited power, over $40 million and is determined to use any means possible to bring down a president, even to corrupt the media in the process, then something is very wrong! The media needs to investigate Starr's investigation and see what trash they can dig up on him. Starr may not be having a relationship with an intern, but he sure is screwing someone. Could it be the press? Sincerely, Terry Lynch Montgomery, AL
