SUBJECT: Take Racism Out Of Elections
If Mayor Folmar ever wants another black person to vote for him,
Folmar should apologize for playing the Arrington-Blont
endorsement race card. Moreover, Gov. Fob James should fire
Folmar and apologize to all Alabamians for allowing the race card
to be played like it was a winning ace in the hole.
It is NOT clever or "politically astute" to play the race
card, nor is it wise to boast about doing so. Such bragging
makes me wonder if Mayor Folmar and Gov. Fob James have white
robes and hoods hanging in their closets or dream of torch
burning?
You can not be a mayor or governor who represents all the people
and act like a klan member, white supremacist or bigot. To do so
hurts Alabama and stops our state from moving forward, away from
racism, into a future of equal opportunity for all people.
Why would anyone want to vote for someone who admits to playing
the race card? The only reason I can think of is that people
still are racist and still hate other people just because of
their color. If that is true, Alabama's future is doomed.
I challenge all Alabamians to examine their hearts and forever
discard the race card. Resolve to never again vote for anyone
who uses the race card to win votes. So long as we vote for a
person based upon the color of their skin instead of the merits
of their minds, instead of their qualifications and experience,
instead of their ability to lead Alabama forward, then we doom
our children to inherit that bigotry and darkness of heart which
clouds our progress.
There is nothing moral or right in hating other people because of
their color. Anyone who tells you otherwise by pointing fingers
to color and asking for your vote lies, deceives and corrupts the
political process. They steal the American dream from us all.
And we are fools if we vote for them ever again!
Sincerely, Terry Lynch
