Letter to the Editor - For Immediate Release
SUBJECT: Ethics of Republican Majority in Question Although no one can predict the future, action to impeach the President by the republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives without presenting a single fact witness is highly unethical! It may even be a violation of due process of law and the rights of all citizens, even the President of the United States, to be considered innocent before being found guilty. However republicans view the impeachment hearings, it is clear the majority of Americans have accepted President Clinton's apology and forgiven him for all the charges against him! The people simply do not want to impeach the President, nor do they want this matter to go for trial to the Senate when not a single fact witness has been produced to prove any of the allegations against President Clinton. In all fairness President Clinton is innocent of the charges republicans have brought against him. The behavior of republicans has been blatantly partisan, prejudicial of a democratically elected President and akin to theocratical tyranny! It is clear to any open minded person that the Christian Coalition has called for President Clinton's impeachment and is indeed behind the movement of conservative republicans to entrap the President and bring about his demise through impeachment. This action by holier than thou Christians is more unjust, criminal and unethical than anything President Clinton is alleged to have done for it represents a conspiracy of over zealous republicans to unseat the President and over turn the results of our electoral process. Such action threatens to weaken and destroy our democracy to a greater degree than any consensual extra marital relationship the President may have had. In fact what republicans who call themselves moral and honorable are trying to do is replace the rule of law with theocracy. These moralist monsters wish to make Mosaic code constitutional law and forever destroy the right of Americans to live private lives, according to their own religious beliefs or understanding of the human events and the truth, when they are public figures. I urge all open minded Americans to stand up against this tyranny. Urge your representatives and senators alike to dispense with impeachment considerations. It is simply unethical and immoral to consider impeaching the President for matters related to his private sexual life which are not affairs of state. Simply put, you can not impeach or remove a President from office because he follows his heart and speaks his mind regarding what he believes is reasonable and true. When it comes to love of God and country, only God knows what is truth and what is lies! In this regard, God, not man, is President Clinton's judge. Although no one can predict the future, no one can say President Clinton is not a man of God. It therefore seems particularly paradoxical conservative Christian republicans would want his impeachment. For President Clinton is basically a fine, honorable and honest American... his only sin seems to be that he is not a republican! Sincerely, Terry Lynch Montgomery, AL 12 Dec. 1998 Copyright Notice
