Welcome to Jade's history page! Also be sure to visit Jade at two years of age and Jade's homepage
Thank you for taking time to read about Jade, the most illustrious guide dog in cyberspace. Here is additional information about Jade. Note that at 3 years of age Jade is a very healthy, athletic dog. He has had no medical problem. His hearing, vision and sense of smell are superb as indicated by close observation of his behavior and how he responds to movement, noise and odors.
Jade is a working dog, not a show dog. He has not competed for any titles given this is not a part of his guardian's life style. However he is a well trained, obedient dog with a keen sense of protection, strong territorial and prey drive.
As a puppy Jade was crate trained and travels very well. He has been on long cross country trips with his owner and not once did he have car sickness or show any signs of not enjoying traveling.
Jade's favorite activity is playing fetch. He retrieves balls and is able to find and retrieve them when hidden. He also enjoys agility work such as jumping hurdles.
Jade is not at all shy of loud noises. Even as a puppy he responded with curiosity to loud noises and does not shy away from them. In fact he is so brave that he has been known to bark and scare away the train that passes by his master's home! Hey, if a German Shepherd will go up against a locomotive, you are talking some brave dog! Of course Jade is maintained in a secure, fenced yard so the locomotive engineer has nothing to fear :-)
It may be regarded as a sad circumstance, perhaps, that Jade has not been given the opportunity to prove himself. But locating good trainers and handlers is not an easy task. If any area trainers or handlers may be interested in working with Jade they should contact his owner
From time to time this page will be updated. You are invited to check back and thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Terry Lynch

At ten months old Jade is a very vigorous, happy dog. He is in excellent health and has very high spirits, being active and well trained. He learns fast and enjoys pleasing his master. His coat is very bright and shiny which is why I like to call him "most illustrious." He is also blacker than the night! In fact Jade is so black that he disappears at night and makes a hole in the darkness!!! If you are thinking about breeding your bitch down the road please view Jade's pedigree.
Attention breeders! Jade's preliminary radiographs for early signs of hip dysplasia have been made and reviewed for remodeling and sclerosis of the femoral head and neck, acetabular congruity and coxofemoral joint luxation. No abnormalities were identified. In other words Jade's hips are GOOD! Another view will be made when Jade is two years of age and film will be sent to Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for screening. Update: At two years of age Jade's radiographs were sent to OFA and registered:
OFA GS-55264 Good 24M-T (Hips).
Jade's basic obedience training is progressing well. He is a very smart dog and responds well to both voice and hand commands. He enjoys playing ball and loves to retrieve balls or other play toys. Jade is being trained using the methods illustrated in Leerburg's Baisc Dog Obedience training video tape #302. This is an excellent video and demonstrated the usage of praise and proper correction technique to reinforce a dog's learning.
