In America we enjoy freedom of press and religion, but that does not mean that the media can print lies about people or that you can preach lies from the pulpit and not have to account for your false statements. When lies are knowingly spoken and the liars are found out, then shame, ridicule, even libel may be the result.
In the current Presidential election there have been many lies spoken about the candidates. Some of the biggest lies have been spoken about Barack Obama. Some have said he is a Muslim. Some have said he is not a Christian. Some have even said he is terrorist. Yet these are all lies.

Listen to Barack Obama talk. Hear what he has to say. Learn about his life growing up in America. Learn about his history as an African-American. If you take the time to learn about Barack Obama you will discover that he is a Christian. He is a humanitarian and Civil Rights advocate. Barack Obama is also a very intelligent man who has devoted his life to public service and has had a remarkable career for such a young man. He is a 1991 Harvard Law School Graduate, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He served in the Illinois state senate for eight years and became only the third African-American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate. He is without a doubt one of the brightest shining stars upon the political horizon in America!
It is shameful for people to be spreading lies about Barack Obama, to be causing people to be afraid. I remember the same types of things being said about another rising star, about a young preacher in Montgomery, Alabama. His name was Martin Luther King, Jr., and members of KKK did not like what he was telling black people, that they had the same God given rights as white folk. So they started spreading all sorts of rumors to generate hatred and fear. It was these type of rumors which created fear and paranoia and eventually led to a sniper assassinating Dr. King as he stood upon the balcony of a motel in Memphis. That was a dark day for America and although only one sick and evil man pulled the trigger, we all let it happen by not speaking up against the lies spoken about this man of God.
Barack Obama is NOT a Muslim. Barack Obama is a man of God. He happens to be a black man, an African-American, who, like Rev./Dr. King, is a very smart man with great promise. For this reason there are those who wish to destroy him, who are spreading lies, who are making people afraid, and who want you to hate this good man and public servant. These are evil people and their lies should not be allowed to take root and grow, for any harm which would thus come to Barack Obama, is harm to America.
I therefore urge everyone who is curious about Barack Obama to go to the source, to visit his web site and learn about the man for yourself. Do not believe the lies others are speaking to make you afraid, to control your mind and how your vote. Barack Obama is NOT a Muslim; he is a Christian and a man of God. Barack Obama is also an America, a fellow country man, born in Hawaii, raised and schooled in these United States of America. As a child he spent some time with his family in Indonesia, which should be regarded as a plus, as exposure to other cultures is an educational experience that awakens and broadens young minds. That is, perhaps, one reason Barack Obama is not racially prejudice like many of his adversaries and Devil advocates who would like you to believe the lies they say about this bright, rising political star.
The next time you hear someone say something bad about Barack Obama, or try to sway your vote by claiming he is a advocacies, a traitor, even a terrorist, please take the time to do your own research. Educate yourself and do not let ignorance be your guide. Do not let racial hatred or religious prejudice or other forms of intolerance be what makes you decide how you are going to vote. Also, if you are in a position to influence other, as is the case with church members, newspaper editors and broadcasters, please speak out against the lies you discover. Do not let those around you tarnish the reputation of a good man, be he black, white, Protestant, Catholic, Jewish or even Muslim. If a man is a good man, as represented by his work and his deeds, that man is one we should all respect and consider as our representative when we go to the poles.
I believe Barack Obama is such a good man. This does not mean he is without fault or sin. We all have our faults and are sinners. But we also have been graced by God with a heart and a mind, with the ability to ask questions and seek the truth, seek the light, and seek to make the best choices for ourselves and our children. If we let ourselves be manipulated by those who play upon our prejudice, our fear, our ignorance, then we are not doing justice to our God, to our country or to ourselves. So please, when you consider how you are going to vote, go directly to the candidates and see what they have to say. Educate yourself and do not let those who would spread lies based upon hatred and prejudice control how you are going to act. The fact is, Barack Obama is a Christian, a man of God. Just because his father was born in Kenya and was a man of color, we should not hold that against him. Indeed, many historians now say Jesus Christ was a man of color. But whatever the color of his skin, Jesus Christ taught his fellow man to love, and I believe Barack Obama is following in his footsteps by devoting his life to public service and helping his country.

Then decide for yourself if you want to follow the light or believe the lies other are spreading. I for one will not stand silent when hearing those lies, for this is my country too. Be it Kennedy or King, I've seen too many promising lights be shot out by hatred and prejudice. Let's not let the same thing happen to Barack Obama. He has a good heart, is a man of God, and a righteous American. That matters more than the color of his skin!
