The Mississippi Insect Guide (MIG) is seeking original photographs of insects, spiders and other arthropods. Best entries may be published on-line. The purpose of the MIG is to stimulate interest and knowledge of insects and thier kin and to encourage photographing insects, spiders and other arthropods in their natural environment.
Beginning October 1, 2008 any photographs selected for usage may be reprinted on promotional gifts and apparel to help raise funds. So please ONLY send photographs which include a completed entry form. This will be a way you can also get your nice designs upon high quality merchandise. Also you will be eligible to receive an annual prize which may show your photograph on a product. You current photos is not available unless you submit the complete entry form below:
Please send digital files. A high resolution close-up photograph of small animals (insects, spiders or other arthropods) as a .jpg type file with 2304x3072 pixel is a good size to send. The minimum resolution you send should be a .jpg type file at 768x1024 pixels. You may send a set of files zipped together. We use and recommend WINZIP by PKWARE to transfer files. If you send a set of files it is a good idea to make a small README text file that includes your name and other information about each photographs. The more accurately and completely you describe your photographs then the better your work can be represented when published. We reserve the right to edit all entries and to add a watermakr notice (Copyright 20xx by Your Name or Photo by Your Name) to photographs. It is best you let us add the copyright notice. A copyright notice may also be added in any description of your photograph. Please note that you retain all copyright to your photographs and submitting an entry merely gives up permission to use your work. Thank you for your entires.
