Proclamation to establish Fort McClellan Military Cemetery via name and historical marker

Whereas some 367 families have loved ones interred at Fort McClellan, hereinafter called Fort McClellan Military Cemetery, it is hereby declared that that name shall be established as the official name of said cemetery; that the property of Fort McClellan proper should be incorporated as a separate and new city and that concerned citizens should work toward this end; that this property should be administered by elected representatives not by a board of area officials who were not specifically elected for this purpose; that this property should not be over-developed by private contractors and profiteers; that the military cemetery at Fort McClellan should have its official name asserted by metal words "Fort McClellan" being added to "military cemetery" on the arch entrance to the grave sites; that a historic marker should be placed at the site so that future generations will not forget their patriotic soldier fathers or their loved ones so interred in these hallowed grounds; that all maps should have the official name Fort McClellan Military Cemetery so marked; that the area should be expanded into a memorial military park area of 50-100 acres which may be a state park area; that all undeveloped property and/or appropriate land on Fort McClellan should be considered for designation as wild life sanctuary and/or preserve area and that the Joint Powers Authority should be replaced by an elected body to represent Fort McClellan as a city; that rights of Veterans and their military families and survivors should be preserved by permitting sons and daughters to be interred with their military loved ones; that these endeavors should be established by local, state or federal legislation or whatever other means which is legal and proper; and that all concerned soldiers, family members and citizens may join together in this endeavor.
