"We each one are born into this world with a certain
potential. It is a great myth that all people are created equal.
Some people have no arms and legs. Some people have no
resistance to disease because of weak immune systems. Some
people are born unable to see or hear. And some people have
mysterious mental diseases.
Equal... no, we are not all created equal. Some people have the
potential to be geniuses, others lack any minds at all. But that
does not mean we who are blessed with full mental and physical
capacity should discard the less fortunate. It means that we
should love them all the more and find creative solutions to
enrich their life experience."

Larry is my brother. He has mental retardation. I prefer to say he is a mentally challenged person. Larry will always be as a child in some respects. He will always have mental problems. He will always have behaviors that can not be changed. I know this is true because Larry is an adult and he still has the same mental ability which he had as a child. You might consider his mental ability to be that of a four to twelve year old. The reason for the age range is because Larry excels in some respects and in others is much below any average for a particular age. He is a unique case study, a unique individual, with his own set of unique mental challenges.
Larry is NOT a hopeless case. His parents always endeavor to provide Larry with the best care and special education programs available. This has enabled Larry to develop his full potential. As a result Larry has some very remarkable qualities.
Larry can read. He can follow trains of thought. He can sing, memorize and even carry tunes. He love Christmas time and getting new books under the tree. In fact Larry loves books about trains, airplanes, bridges, wildlife and atlases. Whatever is wrong with Larry's mind it does not effect his memory or his emotions. He can remember things which happened to him forty years ago like they were only yesterday. Larry has a wealth of information stored in his brain. In some respects he is like a walking encyclopedia. Yet Larry will never be normal or able to take care of himself. Although he can do things like bath and dress himself, make simple sandwiches or pour himself a drink of milk, he can not count money, drive a car or operate any machinery. He can only do those things which might not hurt himself or involve only a limited degree of coordination. Any action which would require fast thinking, weighing and balancing facts or numbers to make a correct, calculated judgement is quite beyond Larry's ability. However, Larry can feel. He can cry and he can love.
Larry is only one of millions of children with a mental retardation problem. Actually Larry's problem is not as bad as it could be. I have seen hundreds of children who are much worse off than Larry, who have been institutionalized and warehoused, rejected by their parents and families and not given the degree of love and affection which Larry has received over the years. Of course many people could care less about a person like Larry. They don't want to know that people like Larry exist. There solution to the problem would be to exterminate all mentally retarded people. Adolph Hitler was one such thinker (or should I say non-thinker). And indeed Hitler did exactly that. I can't help thinking these type of people are more crazy than Larry is mentally retarded. And if their own solution were applied to them, the world would have no Hitlers and no prejudice against the mentally challenged children of this world.
The reason I keep referring to Larry as a child is because mentally Larry is still a child. It may be difficult to imagine a 50 year old child. But Larry is exactly that. He lives in a perpetual childhood. Larry still sometimes says, "Mom, when I grow up... I'm going to be a fireman, an air plane pilot," or do this or do that. Larry does not realize he will never grow up. And what most people do not realize is exactly what it would be like to be trapped inside Larry's head, with the body of an adult but the mind of a child. Who can ever tell what it must be like to be Larry?
Larry often talks to himself. He makes up stories, long narratives where he talks through imagined dialogues with imagined characters, such as air plane pilots, ambulance drivers or firemen. Whatever aspect of the mind which controls the creative story telling process, Larry still has this ability. He also draws pictures, scribbles lines on paper of railroad yards, airports and highways. His line drawings are very crude and tend to represent the linear mental process which I imagine goes on inside Larry's mind. For some reason Larry's brain can only make sequential connections and lacks some third or fourth dimension of capacity to associate. It is like Larry can only walk down a straight corridor, can only follow a road or map already laid out for him. As soon as he opens a door into the wide open spaces he is lost. Maybe that is what causes his stories to ramble so and not always make sense. But it seems that talking to himself is a form of entertainment, one that is perfectly harmless. Since Larry can't do many things for himself, he requires constant, life long supervision and care. But how many families (or even institutions) can afford to provide 24 hour supervision? It is nearly impossible! Somehow we have managed. I think is is easier because Larry is easy to love.
Larry's parents decided when he was an infant not to institutionalize him. The family has never asked church or any charities for any money, but have involved Larry in special education programs. However this has become more difficult to do as Larry has grown older. The diversity of acceptable programs that exist for special children do not seem to exist for adults in need of special life long care.
Larry was kidnapped from his home in Montgomery, Alabama, on Nov. 20, 2003, and taken to Lakewood, Colorado. This was done by Carl Gregory Lynch and his daughter Sharon L. Crenson. This occurred the day after Larry's mother, La Faye S. Lynch, was diagnosed to have dementia. An appointment had been made to take Larry to see an attorney in Montgomery, Alabama. Sharon telephoned Larry's brother, Terry, to learn when the meeting was scheduled. Then Greg and Sharon waited outside Larry's home. When Larry came out of the house to get into the van, Sharon came and forced Larry into a rental car; Greg helped force Larry to come with him. Sharon shouted to Larry that he was in danger, which was a blatant lie. Larry's brother, Terry, tried to stop the kidnapping. After getting away from Greg who tried to hold and restrain Terry, he ran over to the rental vehicle and tried to disable the vehicle, puncturing tires. Greg and Sharon together were able to get Larry into the car and despite three flat tires accelerated to a high rate of speed and kidnapped Larry. Later Greg tried to have Terry locked away, filing a fabricated, fraudulent report to the court. Hence what Greg and Sharon did was to kidnap Larry and then defraud the court in the process to try to defame Terry and establish doubt in the minds of everyone.
What Greg and Sharon did represents a serious crime and exploitation of a person with mental retardation. Larry was always well cared for and had three doctors at the time of his kidnapping. None of these doctors were ever consulted by court authorities about Larry's health and care or they would have determined that it was the best available. Larry was kidnapped and has been exploited. This was done to get power and control over Larry, and to benefit from his income and/or significant tax deductions which may be received.
All persons who may know Larry or who may be concerned with Larry's situation, should know that as a child Larry was beaten and bullied by his eldest brother, Greg. In fact, Greg beat and bullies all his siblings from the day they were born until they were teenagers. Greg's bad temper and desire to maintain a selfish power and control over his siblings was a primary reason Larry's mother never wanted Greg or his wife, Patricia, to have anything to do with Larry's care should she ever become incapacitated. It is outrageous that Greg and Sharon acted to kidnap Larry at the very moment he was on the way to see an attorney, which may have resulted in guardian/conservator documents being drawn for Larry in Alabama, where he had been a resident for the majority of his life.
To kidnap Larry, take him by force from Alabama to Colorado, to then keep him there until guardian/conservator arrangements could be made, constitutes the criminal exploitation of a person with mental retardation. This may also involve crimes of fraud against the Veterans Administration or Federal Government. This is because all Larry's income comes from the Federal Government and significant tax deductions can be received from the IRS for anyone involved with Larry's guardianship.
Everyone who may know Larry or who would like to speak up in his behalf is asked to write representatives and/or authorities in Colorado and ask that they help Larry. Also write to the Colorado Humans Services Department and ask that they please investigate fully what happened to Larry; that he immediately be taken away from those who kidnapped him, given such violent and exploitative behavior is not an indicator of a good care provider. Also, anyone who is interested in stopping the exploitation of Larry and who may want to help provide legal support and assistance on a pro bono basis should contact Larry's brother, Terry.
I do not know how long Larry will live. Larry is already over 61 years old (as of April 2007). Larry's story is an interesting tale which may be of help to others who have a special needs child. I will be updating this site over time, so please check back. Thank you for your time and attention.
Larry Lynch is my dear brother; he has mental retardation. Larry was kidnapped from his home in Alabama and taken to Lakewood, Colorado, by hostile relatives who benefit from his financial exploitation. I am asking everyone who is interested in helping people who have mental retardation to please come to Larry's aid and help him. It is not right or just to permit people with mental retardation to be exploited for profit, even by their relatives.
This is particularly bad in Larry's case, as his dear mother had made plans for him to be cared for by his most loved younger brother, Terry Lynch, who is a perfectly capable, responsibe person. However, Carl Gregory Lynch did not like this arrangement and took it upon himself to kidnap Larry, wisk him off to Colorado, get power and control over Larry via applying to be guardian/conservator in Colorado, and then benefiting from the receipt of federal monies which Larry gets via Social Security and the VA. This is exploitation, pure and simple, of a person who has mental retardation.
Larry has a life-long history of mental retardation. I have been personally involved in Larry's care my entire life. As children I was the one who would always stand up for Larry when other children would make fun of him at school or on the playground. In later life I sacrifised greatly for Larry, attending to his care and needs, helping my dear mother who was burdened with caring for Larry as an adult. I was appointed by my dear mother to be Larry's proxy to provide all health and other care which I did for some twenty years before my dear mother's illness and own incapacity. This included arranging all health and medical treatment for Larry under the care of expert doctors.
Larry was abducted and kidnapped by Carl Gregory Lynch in cohort with his daughter, Sharon L. Crenson, on Nov. 20, 2003, from his home in Montgomery, Alabama, the day after La Faye S. Lynch was diagnosed to have dementia. This was done while Terry and Larry were preparing to go see a lawyer and have documents drawn up to file for guardian/conservator with respect to Larry. After kidnapping Larry and taking him out-of-state, Greg then tried to have his brother, Terry Lynch, (the person who is making this report and appeal) committed on trumped up charges (this can be done any Alabama and any states simply by asking for a judge to sign the required order). This fraud upon the court had the effect of causing defamation of Terry Lynch's character. Judge Reese McKinney, Jr., was the same judge who was involved in this fiasco. Talk about corruption, you can't get much more corrupt than this because the same judge who signed documents to have Terry Lynch arrested and evaluated for commitment later sat on the bench to determine who would be guardian/conservator of La Faye S. Lynch.
Because of what happened Larry Lynch is being exploited in Colorado; he is a dependent, has mental retardation and was in the good care of Terry Lynch at the time of his kidnapping. After kidnapping Larry and taking him to Colorado, Greg Lynch had himself and his wife, Patricia, appointed Larry's guardian/conservator. Larry had never lived in Colorado before and was a life-long resident of the state of Alabama. The court in Colorado was not provides with full, complete and accurate information with respect to application for guardian/conservator of Larry Lynch; hence, fraud upon the court may have occurred.
Because of how this was done, kidnapping Larry, lying to courts and authorities in Alabama and Colorado, a great crime of exploitation has been committed. Everyone who learns of this crime is urged to contact authorities in Colorado and make an appeal in Larry's behalf such that: Larry be picked up immediately and removed from the home of Carl Gregory Lynch; and that a new guardian/conservator be appointed for Larry Lynch.
Larry is being held at the home of Carl Gregory Lynch at 10131 West Asbury Ave., Lakewood, CO 80227. Interested parties are urged to contact authorities that a complete investigation of Larry's situation may be made and, if warranted, to pick up Carl Gregor Lynch and have his sanity evaluated through the Department of Human Services and mental health workers, given the following reasons: Carl Gregory Lynch has a long history of bullying/beating/battering his siblings and outbursts of bad temper indicative of boarder line personality disorder; he has a long history of using alcohol to excess indicative of addiction and substance abuse which may be injurious to his health and to the health of those in his care and/or in his home or within his presence; and, he is guilty of exploitation of mentally incapacitated persons, including a brother, Larry, who has mental retardation and a mother who has dementia; plus, said exploitation may involve various forms of fraud against individuals, upon the court and upon various agencies of the federal government which provide benefits to persons who are incapacitated, indicative of criminal conduct -- all behaviors which are indicative of boarder line behavior disorder which, when done, may cause hurt and harm to other people.
No court should ever have awarded guardian/conservator of Larry Lynch to anyone with such a horrible record of behavior, temperament and exploitive conduct; said court obviously was not given complete, full, accurate and honest information with respect to application for the guardian/conservator of Larry Lynch and failure to make complete and accurate disclosure in this regard may constitute fraud upon the Court in Colorado.
I am asking everyone who is outraged to learn about how Larry has been exploited to please help in whatever way you can. Please write to authorities in Colorado. Ask that they fully investigate Larry's situation and take action to remove Larry from the care of his hostile, exploitive brother, Carl Gregory Lynch, and assign a new guardian/conservator for Larry, someone who will not benefit financially from the exploitation of Larry.
