Hi animal lovers! My name is Terry. I'm the founder of German Shepherd Dog Animal Rescue. I'm shown here with Angel, who is working as a mascot for GSDAR. We would like to ask for your help. We need everyone who loves animals to please help in whatever way you can.
Currently I am operating out of my home and old Toyota van. It is in much need of service and repair. So if anyone wants to contribute some money to help out or even a new vehicle, this would be appreciated. I'm asking because I understand auto dealerships are trying to move stock and some are even having to close down. So if there is anyway anyone can help in this respect it would be much appreciated.
Also much needed are people to volunteer to be foster parents for homeless animals in the Quitman, Mississippi, area. Volunteers are also needed to help with all aspects of operating an animal rescue, educational and public service organization. If you are interested in joining as a volunteer, please contact Terry.
One of the big things that money is needed immediately for is to help start a spay-neuter-adopt program, as well as a program to spay-neuter-release stray cats as a way to get an upper hand on the serious problem of feral cats in this area. Our goal is to create a quality kennel that can be used in the rescue and adoption of German Shepherds and other dogs. This will require significant support from concerned citizens in a position to make a donation. There are a number of items that are on our immediated Wish List which you may contribute. These include:
Large building -- We want to construct one or more large prefabricated, insolated buildings with a concrete foundation to use as an indoor kennel. This will be used to provide indoor shelter for dogs which are being worked with on a daily basis and will be large enough to house a number of kennels, have storage space for dog food and supplies and also serve as an office and training facility. We need to donation of the concrete foundation, of the materials to construct the building and of the labor and contractor to assemble and build the structure -- or the money to provide for everything.
Storage building -- In addition to a large building, smaller storage building space is needed. We will accept donations of metal or wood storage buildings plus all the materials and/or labor that may go into construction of storage buildings.
Dog kennels and runs. We need 6 foot high chain link dog kennels. We can also build kennels if you donate chain link fencing and fence posts.
Air conditioners and ceiling fans.
Desk top computers and monitors.
A van to transport our dogs and puppies and/or a pickup truck with trailer hitch.
Land on which to build a permanent Sanctuary for German Shepherd Dogs and Puppies
Canine supplies: Collars, harnesses, leashes, brushes, combs, safe hard rubber toys,
Crates and Veri Kennels
Blankets and pillows
Heart worm Preventative Medications
Flea/Tick Preventative Medications
Canine Vitamins and Supplements
High qulaity dog food.
GSDAR is based in Quitman, Mississippi. This is a small country town. There is no animal control and no humane shelter. Many people do not spay and neuter their dogs or cats; many animals run at large. GSDAR was founded after Angel was abandoned in the middle of the night and left for dead. Clearly there is a need to educate the public in the community where I live with respect to the humane treatment of animals. There is also a need to deal with the problem of homeless animals. If I had one wish, it would be to have a modern animal resuce facility built or at least the means to rescue homeless animals in the area and provide for foster homes until forever homes can be provided. Lacking such a modern facility, I have put together a Wish List. If you want to help solve the homeless animal problem, you can help me by providing any of the items on Terry's Wish List.
Especially needed is any local or area businesses or contractors to help by providing building supplies, materials and/or labor to construct kennels with concrete foundation and fences. If you are in a position to help please contact Terry. Thank you for your support!
