Subject: Maybe God is a Homosexual

Having carefully reviewed Chief Justice Moore’s concurring opinion in Ex parte H.H., 2002 Ala. LEXIS 44 (February 15, 2002) with respect to the Canons of Judicial Ethics of the Code of Alabama, it is obvious that the good judge is in violation of those Canons and should forth with resign. Moreover, the good judge may have violated the very spirit of the Holy Scripture he quotes in his controversial concurring homophobic opinion.

The good judge quoted Holy Scripture to declare that homosexuality “violates both natural and revealed law.” His lengthy diatribe professes:

The author of Genesis writes: `God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.... For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.’ Genesis 1:27, 2:24 (King James).

Indeed, if man was created in God's image, and some men practice homosexuality, is not God a homosexual? But this revelation is too profound for the good judge to make. Instead he quotes more Holy Scripture explaining, " The law of the Old Testament enforced this distinction between the genders by stating that `if a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.’ Leviticus 20:33 (King James)."

Now certainly the good judge is entitle to his own personal religious belief and interpretation of Holy Scriptures, but when he prescribes to write these beliefs into law then we have the beginnings of a theocracy. Although that is not necessarily bad, historically the blend of government and religion has resulted in the persecution, black listing, outcasting, death and destruction of everyone who refuses to comply with the state ordained religion.

The good people of Alabama have a right to worship freely, to pray and to go to the church of their choice. But no matter how good a person he thinks himself to be, Chief Justice Roy Moore has no right to write his religion into law and so force his idea of God fown the throats of all citizens of this great state!
