Welcome to Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (Guyana). We are a group of concerned citizens who want to rescue and save the lives or animals in Guyana. We are working to establish and operate an animal rescue and sanctuary in Guyana. We invite everyone who loves animals to help us archive our purposes and goals as expressed below:
Mission StatementThe mission of the society includes promoting and fostering all those activities, works and objectives as related to animal rescue and sanctuary and includes, but is not limited to, the following purposes and goals: 1. To conduct and engage in the rescue of homeless, neglected, abused or wild animals or domesticated animals and provide care, food, shelter, medication, veterinary services, sanctuary or other health and welfare services as necessary for animals, their owners and/or the community and public at large; 2. To foster education, training, instruction and/or guidance as related to: the rescue of animals; the responsible and humane care and treatment of animals, the rescue, spay, neuter, and adoption of animals; and all other services or operations as related to the humane rescue and sanctuary for animals, domestic or wild; 3. To engage in any and all other activities, business, efforts, or enterprise which is legal and/or necessary for the conduct of an animal rescue and sanctuary business and achievement of these purposes and goals. |
We cannot achieve these high goals alone. Everyone who is in sympathy with our mission is invited to become a member. The help of many concerned citizens will enable us to achieve these high goals. Your membership and support therefore is very much needed and will be greatly appreciated.
The conditions in Guyana with respect to homeless, neglected and abused animals are horrible, given the extreme poverty and lack of funds necessary to deal with existing problems. We desperately need help and donations from anyone who is in a position to help.
We will be posting information on this site to educate and inform the world community with respect to the nature of the problems in Guyana. Please realize that these conditions are often the result of lack of education and resources and extreme poverty, NOT a lack of the good nature of people. Extreme poverty caused conditions which make survival of people as well as animals very difficult. Therefore everyone's help is needed to educate and inform the public as well as take positive and productive action and steps to make change and progress.
Yet this cannot be done without money. Therefore we urge everyone who visits this site to please help by joining our organization as a contributing member. To become a contributing member just click on the donation button below. Or you may also help through the purchase of gift and apparel products featured on this site and our sister VARS site. Thank you for your support and patronage.
We need everyone to help support this site and the work of ARSG. You may show your support by joining in our effort today. Everyone who becomes a member will be acknowledged and listed as a contributing member. We are awarding medals to contributing members. Categories of membership are: Bronze Medal @ $9.99/year; Silver Medal @ $19.99/year; and Gold Medal @ $29.99/year. Please join ARSG today so we can keep this web site up and running and have some resources to cover basic operating costs. Thank you very much. To join ARSG, just click on the link below:
We also need business and corporate sponsors to make large donations or grants. We also need volunteers to help in anyway they can. Anyone who wants to help support ARSG should contact Joyce or Terry. Thank you very much for your help, support and generous contributions.
We are asking everyone who joins as a contributing member to please sign up three or more new members. Please ask all your family, friends and associates to join today. Then each new member you sign up is asked to sign up three more people. In this way we can grow and over time generate the funding that will help achieve the objectives, goals and purposes of the Society.
The following announcement and SPECIAL INVITATION has been prepared and may be published or distributed via email or other means. We are asking all members to please help by sending this special invitation to everyone on their email list. Also, if you have a company, please endorse our campaign and send this special invitation to everyone on your email list.
Instructions: Right click, highlight, cut/paste the special invitation below and send it to everyone you know who loves animals.
TO: ALL ANIMAL RESCUE WORKERS, ADVOCATES AND ANIMAL LOVERS
Dear Animal lover,
Subject: Special Invitation to join ARSG
You are cordially invited to join Animal Rescue & Sanctuary -- Guyana (ARSG) and become a contributing member at www.arsg.byteland.org Just go to the ARSG site. Then click on the ARSG Gold Medal under Membership. Decide what level of membership you want and join today!
This needs to be done by everyone who is already working, helping and leading this effort. In this way everyone will become an official and contributing member of ARSG. This has been made very east to do with medal categories of membership on the ARSG site, that each person who loves animals and wants to help can do so according to their means. Then each person can also get others to join. Then there will be growing support so we can get off to a good start and continue growing.
What I am hoping is that everyone who loves animals will join, then each person get three or more others to join; then that this process is repeated over and over, so that everyone who joins will get at least three more people to join. If this is done, the organization will have perpetual growth and in time will have the means to help rescue many, many animals and do some great work. So please, everyone start the process by joining yourself, then get three or more other people to join over time. You can ask people you meet on-line to join, via email or by networking using Facebook, Twitter or other social networking services. Or ask those in your immediate circle of family, friends or associates to join.
Please cut/paste and forward this invitation to all animal lovers. ARSG is a nonprofit effort established to help rescue animals in Guyana, and establish and build a sanctuary. This can only be done with the help and support of many animal lovers. That means everyone who wants to see this dream become a reality must join and contribute to the effort. Therefore over time membership may grow and the work ARSG is established to do may be achieved through the collective efforts and contributions of many people who love animals.
As final words of encouragement, I pass along this inspirational expression:
"God will richly bless you for taking your humane efforts across the ocean to Guyana in support of our decaying situation with street dogs and other animals. They silently cry for help and we bear their suffering and torment to desperately assist them for a basic fundamental life, kindness and consideration, to say the least and to curb the daily cruelty. People cannot all be human activists/advocates; some have to be animal activists to help the voiceless and defenseless ones. They too are living souls."
I wish to thank everyone in advance for their help, effort, dedication and other contributions. Please visit the ARSG site at www.arsg.byteland.org and join today! Then please pass this invitation along to at least three other family, friends, and associates who you know are animal lovers.
For additional information or reply please contact joyce.gomes@telus.net or terry@byteland.org
This invitation may be freely copied, cut/pasted and shared with all animal lovers. Please make copies and send them to your family, friends and associates. Thank you.
We also welcome donations of any amount. You can make a secure donation just by clicking on the link below.
Thank you for your help and contribution.
All members have a duty, responsibility and a VOTE. Once you join and become a member you can immediately begin to help. Plus you have a vote. What you want to do, your advice and opinions matters. If you have an issue, concern or suggestion please contact Joyce.
Every members may take action and help. We have some very high goals and dreams and everyone together can help reach and achieve those dreams and goals. It is really very simple. If you have an idea and want to help simply let us know how you can help. We want to form groups or committees of interested members to work on various projects. Therefore each individual and member may help initiate actions and step by step work to achieve small tasks and goals which will enable reaching those bigger goals.
For example, we need an attorney in Guyana who is familiar with how societies are setup and operate to VOLUNTEER their time and expertise and provide the society with all legal services. If you are an attorney in Guyana and want to help by providing free legal services and aid, then please become a member. This will also benefit you as an attorney as when people hear that you volunteered to help an animal rescue organization this will act as great PR and bring business your way from animal lovers.
We need people to actually help in Guyana with the task of rescuing animals. This is a huge task. But it can begin with each person. We recommend that concerned citizens become members. Then form groups of two, three or more people so you can work together as a team. It is very important to work together as a team when doing any animal rescue work. This involves not only direct rescue of animals, but also all the associated work and tasks which need to be done prior to rescuing an animal. For example, you need to have a plan and be sure each person is properly equipped, trained and knows how to do animal rescue safely. This also involves working with veterinarians and the humane society so that when an animal is rescued it is given the proper care.
There are also many tasks related to animal rescue which need to be done, such as education. Individuals may organize as groups and committees and develop educational campaigns or membership drives. When you get more people to join this gets more people involved in the whole process so that each person's skills and abilities contributes to achieving our goals. You might want to set up an information table in a public place and pass out literature about responsible ownership of animals or membership brochures. If you live in the United States or Canada and want to help, you might want to start an Guyana Animal Rescue Support Group and collect donations by placing collecting jars with our logo at cash registers in veterinarian offices, pet stores and anywhere else you may get permission to do this. Then people everywhere can make a donation and you send these to us via PayPal. Every penny collected will help funding efforts to achieve each or our Missions Statement goals. Maybe you have a business and would like to help by donating food, supplies or helping to sponsor a fund raising event. For example, a pet store anywhere in the world could have a Guyana Animal Rescue Day, advertise the special event using discount coupons, pass out membership literature to all shoppers, and/or donate a percentage of all sales made that day.
Perhaps you own a building or office in Georgetown that is not being used. You could help by donating the usage of that building. Then an office could be setup to coordinated all local activities. Others could join in and help clean up, make any repairs and even raise funds or contribute to help pay utilities and operating costs. Still others could then volunteer to help do all those tasks related to actual animal rescue work.
There really is no limit to what can be done when everyone joins hands and begins to work together to achieve those common goals stated in our Missions Statement. Maybe you are a talented entertainer. You could help by organizing a performance or concert to raise funds for Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Guyana. A group of entertainers could come together and have a Save the Animals in Guyana Concert. Or maybe your are a teacher at a school in America, Canada or elsewhere. Perhaps you class would like to organize a Save the Animals in Guyana car wash or other activity. There is really no limit to the types of events and activities individual members may organize to help reach those goals expressed in our Mission Statement.
If you want to help in any way, please become a member. Then let us know how you want to help. We will then sanction your efforts and give you permission to use our logo to help advertise and promote related activities, events or fund raising efforts. You can even invite the local media to cover any events or activities you organize and sponsor to let the public know which will contribute to the success of the event.
We are opening the door and inviting everyone to come in and help in any way they can. The first step is becoming a member. Then decide what you want to do to help. Try to find at least three other people to help you. Then after you have three other members to help, you can start an Animal Rescue Project
. This may be as simple as signing up new members via the Internet. Or maybe you want to print up some brochures by finding a printer to donate this service, then passing out the brochures at a public place to help get new members, raise awareness and stimulate interest in the rescue of homeless animals. Or maybe you want to help organize an adoption network for homeless animals. Everyone has some skills, ability, talent or service that they may be able to contribute. We are asking everyone to look into their hearts and help save the lives of homeless animals. Decide how you want to help, become a member, and get started on this great adventure and worthy effort today.
Please let us know how you want to help. We will be working to organize and sanction individuals and groups as members to do all the work and tasks necessary to achieve those goals in our Mission Statement. Please contact Joyce or Terry and let us know how you want to help. Thank you for your kind heart, generous contribution and considerations!
All members can help ARSG raise funds. We need individuals and groups to help raise funds for ARSG. You can use the free ARSG print-out below to help. Just make as many copies of the free ARSG fund raiser and post it everywhere. You can even setup a booth at special events and make a collection jar using the free ARSG fund raiser. Just paste or tape the free ARSG fund raiser to a jar and let everyone make a donation. These free ARSG fund raiser jars may also be placed at cash registers to collect donations in the form of spare change. Then you can send the money to ARSG by using PayPal to make a donation.
Instructions: Click on the free ARSG Fund Raiser below. Then right click to COPY and SAVE the image to your computer. You may then print out as many copies as you need to help raise funds. After you raise funds use PayPal to make a donation to ARSG equal to the amount of money you raise. All donations will be used to support that vital work and those good causes expressed in our Mission Statement. Thank you very much for your help and contribution.

What is great about the free ARSG Fund Raiser is that it provides a very easy way everyone can help. You can get permission and set up a table or booth at your local mall, pet shop, or other public place of business. Then just tell everyone about ARSG and collect money. After the event you tabulate the total donations and use PayPal to send them to ARSG. This also helps advertise and promote ARSG and our Mission Statement, as people can visit our web site and become members.
We are asking everyone who wants to help ARSG to become a member today. Then plan an event and help raise money using the free ARSG Fund Raiser. You can even setup a laptop connected to our web site (this page) and use it as a display during your event. You could also display our web site on a larger screen if you have the means. Therefore the display of our web site and the free ARSG Fund Raiser makes a very nice exhibit for a booth at any public event.
This makes it very easy for everyone to volunteer and help ARSG. We hope to raise funds to help the homeless animals in Guyana. This involves everything from helping locals do animal rescue work to providing much needed pet food, vaccinations, spay and neuter of animals, and other vital services. Every penny helps and volunteers can all take pride and joy in the effort they make. Thank you very much for getting involved and helping ARSG!
How to make an ARSG donation collection jar -- You can make a collection jar like the one shown below very easily. First get a one-gallon pickle jar (or you can use any other type of one-gallor jar -- we like pickle jars because we love pickles! :-) Then print out the FREE ARSG FUND RAISER -- Two 5" x 7" Labels.

You can also use smaller jars, but you may have to print smaller labels. You can easily adjust the size of the print-outs by importing the free arsg_collection_jar.jpg file into a program like MSPaint or other graphics or document program and resizing the image to make it smaller. For a gallon jar the image size may be 5" x 7" or slightly smaller.
After you print out the Free ARSG Fund Raiser label, cut out two of the labels and tape them to a gallon jar. Make a slit in the top of the jar so people can drop in their change or dollar bills. We recommend that you also put a piece of black plastic electric tape around the top of the lid so that it cannot be opened while in use.
For added security at heavily trafficked events, these jars can be secured to a table using a small piece of cord or even a very small chain. If you do not want people to see how much money you have collected you can put paper around the inside of the jar or use a plastic jar that is translucent. We recommend using a glass jar because when people can see that others have donated, it encourages others to donate. Just be sure to not leave donation jars unattended at public events.
ARSG donation jars may be used in many ways. You can make up dozens of these jars and place them by cash registers at pet shops, veterinary offices, grocery stores or any where else that you get permission. At regular intervals collect the donations, count the money and make a donation to ARSG equal to the amount you collect using PayPal.
This very simple method of collecting donations may be used by members of ARSG, including individuals, students, classes, church groups, clubs, small businesses, or any one else who wants to volunteer and help. If everyone who sees this would make ARSG collection jars, then over time the donations made would help save the lives of many animals. If thousands of volunteers would help we could raise funds to build a animal sanctuary in Guyana. Every penny will be used to help save the lives of homeless animals. Thank you very much for your volunteer effort and help!
All animal lovers and members are asked to start a blog or Facebook page related to their work with animals, animal rescue, animal welfare or other animal welfare issues. This will enable each member to express their concerns and document their work and efforts over time. This will also enable each member to more easily network with every other member, to share ideas, express opinions, and through the collective efforts of many make a significant contribution of their talents, skills and abilities over time.
Please start your own Animal Rescue and Welfareblog today. Then send the link to Terry. After reviewing your blog it will be listed here for everyone's enjoyment.

The Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (Guyana) logo was developed by Terry Lynch and feature an adorable ellipse with the Guyana national flag colors and pattern in the background. There are silhouettes of animals, including the Hoatzin, which is the national bird of Guyana, and stylized horse, dog and jaguar or panther to symbolize a variety of both domesticated and wild animals found in Guyana. We hope everyone will purchase gifts and apparel featuring our logo. A percentage of every purchase will be contributed to GARS to help build an animal sanctuary in Guyana, rescue homeless animals and provide for operating costs. Your patronage is much appreciated!

We are working to establish a nonprofit organization. This involves creating the Vancouver Animal Rescue Society (VARS) and a partner organization in Guyana. Please be patient while these formal organizations are setup as this involves a legal registration process and all the documents must be properly drafted and registered. In order to qualify for benefits, such as tax exemption, these organizations must be established under the Society Act (Canada) or the Friendly Societies Act (Guyana). We will be working to complete the setup phase.
The following is a draft of the Society's Constitution. Everyone interested in establishing this organization should review this draft and make comments, suggestions or recommendations. Once a final draft is approved it will be filed with the appropriate government body.
You may enjoy reading these reports from local media in Guyana regarding animal welfare and related issues:
ARSG is working to empower people to save the lives of homeless animals. Through Rescue Me, an independent, international network organized to facilitate adoption of homeless animals, an easy way is provided to save the lives of homeless animals in Guyana. You may post animals for adoption in Guyana and volunteer to adopt an animal in Guyana. We hope this service will aid in the rescue of animals in Guyana.
Of course it takes not only the help of many people volunteering to rescue and adopt homeless animals, but everything cost money. Just to get up and running there are legal fees, registration fees, postage, the cost to produce, host and maintain a Sabre ... it adds up quickly. This does not even begin to cover all the expenses involved with providing animal rescue and building a sanctuary. Therefore it will help greatly if everyone would sign up as a member. Then if you also want to help more and have the means, please make a donation via PayPal to help cover not only the organizational costs and our operating expenses, but to enable doing the good work of the Society as relates to animal rescue, the humane treatment of animals, and animal welfare. You can make a donation to help with general expenses via PayPal using the secure button below.
If you operate an animal rescue organization and would like to be a partner, please contact Joyce or Terry. We are very interested in working together to plan and conduct projects with other nonprofit groups and organizations. We also endorse and recommend these other organizations which are working to save the lives of homeless animals and solve the many problems associated with the over population of domesticated animals.
