Dear Fellow Patriots,

The American Patriots Association is working to establish a historical marker program to honor soldiers and their loved ones. Our present goal is to place a historical marker at or near the Fort McClellan Military Cemetery. For this purpose your support and donations are needed.

This particular site needs a historic marker to serve as a way to educate visitors to the area so that they will not forget those honored soldiers and their loved ones interred. A marker has been designed which includes an appropriate tribute to our soldier fathers with review of the history associated with Fort McClellan Military Cemetery from 1917 to 1999 when Fort McClellan officially closed.

My father, Lt. Col. Leonard P. Lynch, is one of those honored soldiers who makes the Fort McClellan military cemetery his final resting place. I am deeply concerned about this matter because my family and I were not contacted by authorities with respect to the disposition of this burial site as plans were being made for the development of the property and the surrounding area. To prevent this from happening to others and to insure that our soldier fathers and their loved ones are never forgotten again, I have established this endeavor to erect a historical marker.

This project will require some $10,000.00 for the historical marker plus additional sums to support all the associated activities entailed in the design, production and establishment of this historical marker. As a soldier’s son I would like to urge that you join me in this endeavor.

For everyone who makes a significant contribution I will provide a letter of appreciation showing a picture of the marker after it is erected. This will be suitable for framing and will be a way you can have a special memory to keep dear to your heart. As a master artist and designer you may be assured that all the highest quality of work will be done to establish and erect this historical marker. This is especially true given my father is one of the soldiers this interred at Fort McClellan Military Cemetery.
