The tale of a lost and found dog sent by God and her efforts to encourage every responsible canine fancier to adopt a dog today!

On February 25, 2009, Angel was brought to me in the very wee hours of the night by a neighbor, knocking on my door, asking for help! Apparently someone had discarded Angel and driven away; either that or Angel miraculously appeared out of the night, as if sent by God, a lost dog attracted to the area by whatever combination of scents on the wind and sounds in the air guide lost dogs through the darkness of a danger filled world to safe havens.

I took Angel in as she was obviously hungry and scared. Angel was so small, just 15 pounds of fur and pure love, that a bigger dog could have easily picked her up and killed her with one jerk of it head. Had my neighbor not found and rescued her, and had I not take her in, Angel might have disappeared into the night, one more lost dog and abandoned dog, to die alone and forlorn on the street, hit by a car or perhaps starved to death. So I brought Angel into my home and gave her a name which fit both her gentle nature an sudden appearance in the night. Angel was as a gift from God, given my German Shepherd, Jade, of some 12 years had only died about two weeks earlier and was being much missed.

I fed Angel and later gave Angel a bath and cleaned her ears. Judging from the color of the bath water she had probably never been given a bath before. The next day I also went to the store and got some new dog food and flea/tick preventative appropriate for her weight of 15 pounds. She would later need to have a visit with the veterinarian, be scanned for a micro chip, tested for heartworms and started on inoculations. Judging from Angel's teeth she is over eight weeks of age (A puppy has 28 teeth at by 8 weeks of age) and under 24 weeks of age; she has 38 teeth and is between having her puppy teeth and developing a full set of adult teeth (An adult dog has 42 teeth at 24 to 28 weeks of age); so I estimate Angel may be as old as 16 weeks, though a small breed, her growth perhaps stunted if she had been running at large for sometime and/or not well fed on a daily basis.

I decided to start a blog or journal about Angel, to record her life, as this dog had the makings of a wonderful canine, perhaps a therapy dog. In fact, her first act of therapy was to cheer me up, given the recent sudden death of my wonderful German Shepherd, Jade.

Angel's most impressive quality was her loving and affectionate nature. She also expressed a strong fetch drive and just loved playing with a rope toy.

Here are a few of the first photographs I took of Angel after she was cleaned up, feed, well rested and ready to play.

Angel affinity toward other dogs.

Angel shows a strong affinity to other dogs and when she sees other dogs she wants to approach and greet them. However, I have been keeping Angel inside her own fenced yard and endeavoring to avoid direct contact with other dogs which may carry contageous diseases harmful to puppies. This affinity toward other dogs and to people would probably make Angel a very good therapy dog once she has obidence training.

Feb. 28, 2009. -- Today I observed Angel sniffing very intently and tracking an invisible trail in her kennel area. She went under a table near were acorns were stored and chased a small field mouse out from under the table. The mouse escaped, but Angel continued to track it and when I let Angel out of the kennel, she followed the scent of the mouse and began digging under some piled wood and metal roofing that is stored in the backyard. Apparently Angel has a very strong rodent hunting instinct or prey drive. This drive to sniff out and hunt rodents is the strongest instinct I have observed in Angel. It may help explain why Angel was very curious about the remote control for the television which is shaped much like a mouse and has a similar dark color.

Could it be that the manufactures of remote controls know that many of them will be destroyed by dogs if they are shaped like a mouse? That certainly would result in many remote controls destroyed by dogs who associated their shape with a mouse -- and it would boost sales of universal remote controls over time. I wonder, is that why some many remote controls are shaped like mice and rats? When Angel took an interest in the remote, fortunately I was able to catch her with it and take it away before it was damaged. But there are some small tooth marks to remind me to always set the remote up high and out of reach of Angel, who may respond to it as but a plastic mouse that should not be in the house.

Angel Hunting

I also observed and photographed Angel yesterday exhibiting this same hunting behavior around a pile of small twigs and limps that I had made around the oak tree in the back yard. Angel was sniffing and trying to dig under the sticks, very intently focused upon something that was living under the faggots. Given that I have now actually witnessed Angel locate a mouse and chase it out from its hiding place, it is probable that Angel had detected a field mouse under the pile of sticks yesterday, and it was this hunting behavior which I had photographed.

Angel setting after first day of clicker training. Angel is a very alert, intelligent dog. She responded very quickly to her first day of clicker training learning how to sit and look at the trainer while taking her photograph. Bits of fresh chicken Sandwich meat were used to reward desired behavior which is associated with the double click of the clicker while the behavior is being executed. It is important in such training to make the sound of the clicker during the behavior, not after. Angle responded very rapidly to clicker training.

March 2, 2009 -- Yesterday was a bright, sunny day, and I took the opportunity to take a lot of photographs of Angel and even made some video of her. I'll try to get some of these posted later.

Angel captured and killed a spider that was living in ground! I'd seen her digging in the grass, here and there numerous time before, but this time she actually found something and spit it out. So I ran over to see what she had captured and discovered it was a hunting spider. Of course the spider was dead, having been mauled by Angel. Given Angel has a strong hunting drive for rodents, it is not surprising that she would also know how to sniff out a spider and kill it, given that spiders would have been encountered by breeds of dogs selected for their rodent hunting instinct. Probably the smell of spiders which would live in the same areas as rodents attracts Angel in the same way that the smell or rodents does; either that or anything found in a hole, under a pile or wood or wherever else a field mouse or other rodent might hide and nest is fair game for a dog like Angel.

Today Angle's homepage, this site, was added to Google that everyone may come learn about Angel and how she is working to inspire people everywhere to adopt a homeless dog! Please, if you are a responsible adult, visit you local shelter today and adopt a dog!

Given Angel is still developing her adult teeth, she does have a tendency to chew on items around the house. I decided to make list of the things Angel has destroyed along with her thoughts on the issue. :-) This may prove useful to others, that you may keep such items out of reach of small puppies or make certain area off-limits to young puppies. One method I am using to enable better monitoring of Angel is to keep her on a small chain leash, given she cannot chew through the chain, and this makes it easy to watch her while doing such daily tasks at working on the computer.

March 3, 2009 -- Angel visited the veterinarian today. She was scanned for a microchip and none was found. She also was tested for heartworms and the test was negative. Hence she will be started on heartworm preventative. She was found to have hookworm and given a dewormer, but no tapeworms or other worms were found. Angel will be maintained upon medication for worm prevention (Iverhart Max). Angel was also found to have ear mites and was treated for these. She was estimated by the veterinarian to be about six months of age, given her adult canines are coming in; hence she was also given a rabies vaccination and a first set of inoculations. Angel's first vet bill came to $89.00.

The veterinarian said she resembled a red healer, a type of cattle dog, that may reach 20 - 25 pounds. Hence Angel is a small breed dog. Angel was prescribed Iverhart Max chewable tablets which prevents heartworm disease and treats and controls roundworm, hookworm, and tapeworm infestations. Overall Angel was found to be in good health. The veterinarian also said she had never seen Angle before, and given there is only one veterinarian in town, that probably means Angel had never before been to a veterinarian clinic. With no detection of a microchip, no collar and the fact the local veterinarian had never treated Angel before, she now offically has a new guardian and owner!

Angel's official unregistered name will be Angel von Talhaus. Photographs taken of Angel will be used to help encourage people to adopt homeless animals, to spay and neuter their pets and to educate and inform people with respect to being responsible pet owners. Angel's primary goal will be to encourage the adoption of dogs by responsible adults and to raise $10,000,000.00 to establish an adoption center for homeless dogs. Please help by making a donation today!

Now that Angel's has gotten a good bill of health, an order was placed for ID tags, a new black collar and a 6' black lead. The total cost was $31.74. Also a read collar and lead was purchased from a local farm coop for $7.47. When added to her vet bill of $89.00, her total account comes to $128.21. I'm not figureing the cost of replacing items already damaged or dog food, but as you can see, a new puppy does run up a tab. If you want to help support Angel and her effort to encourage everyone to Adopt A Dog, please make a donation today. Thank you!

March 5, 2009 -- Since Angel tested NEGATIVE for heartworms she was started on Iverheart MAX on 4 March, 2009. This will alos help control other types of worms and help insure Angel's good health.

Angel has only urinated twice inside the house since I took her into my home. This indicates she is not house trained. I have noticed that after she eats, Angel will urinate outside in small amounts over a period of time; she does not empty herself all at once. She seems to perhaps also be using urine to mark her territory. Hence, keeping her outside in the backyard for at least an hour after feeding should solve the problem of her urinating inside the house.

Angel is also developing her adult teeth. Her veterinarian thought Angel may be about six months old. Because she is developing her adult teeth she is still chewing on such items as sticks, newspapers or other objects. Her favorite toy continues to be a small rope toy. She also like a jeans leg with a knot. When in the backyard I've noticed her chewing on oak tree stick and playing with camellia flowers that she will pick up off the ground, run with, and then demolish. I've also seen her knaw upon grass. It may be that her tendency to chew on sticks suggest that small sticks are a natural item for dogs to chew on when they are developing their adult teeth. Small sticks form an oak tree do not seem to have any splinters. Angel does not appear to inject the wood, just to chew upon the sticks. Of course any small amount of oak wood injested would just add fiber and roughage to Angel's diet; I doubt it would have any ill effects.

I've have been watching Angel closer when inside the house to take care she does not chew on anything she should not have. One method I've tried is to keep her on a small chained leash while doing such tasks as working at the computer. She learned quickly to then lay down and rest beside me and thus does not have the opportunity to do mischief. Since I also have a large kennel outside, she can also be kept safely and securely inside it, when she can run about, play and even lay in the sunshine. The kennel also has a large covered area that provides shade, plus a place table she can go under if she wants to retreat. This kennel was originally build for my German Shepherd, Jade, a much larger dog. Hence Angel has a relatively big kennel for such a small dog and everything is about five times as big for Angel relative to Jade.

Given Jade weight over 80 pounds, and angle weigh only 15.6 pounds, Angel is 1/5th the weight and relative size of Jade. Hence Angel eats about 1/5th as mush, takes about 1/5th the dosage of all medications, and cost about 1/5th to maintain. This is a very significant savings and may be a good reason for people to have a small breed dog, especially during times when the economy is depressed. Basically with Angel I will be saving 4/5th of what I was spending on my much larger German Shepherd, Jade. I could actually have five small dogs like Angel for the same cost of one large German Shepherd. However, a small dog like Angel does not provide the security and protection that a German Shepherd does.

March 7, 2009 -- Angle had a tramatic experience today; she witnessed the heartless disposal of another dog by an irresponsible person. This is the same dog that is shown in the above photograph which Angle was barking at through the fence. This dog came into heat and was left outside by its irresponsible owner. A number of other dogs were seen attracted to this dog; one very large Labrador Retriever even jumped the fence and hooked up with the smaller dog that was in heat. Then yesterday this poor dog was taken away by its owners. I dread to think of what was done to this poor dog. Was it just dumped on some deserted country road? Was it shot? Who knows? Should I learn of this dog's fate I'll let you know in the future.

This particular dog was the result of a breeding of a chow and a neighbor's dog which was let to roam at large. Many people in and around the area of Quitman, Mississippi, are irresponsible. They do not take proper care of their pets. The result is a large population of stray dogs and cats plus many other animals that develop such diseases as mange and heartworm as they are not properly inoculated or given proper veterinary care.

To work to solve this problem GSDAR has been established. Also Angel is conducting the Adopt A Dog campaign. Everyone is urged to help by becoming a contributing member of GSDAR and/or making purchase of Adopt A Dog gifts and apparel. March 23, 2009 -- Angel was treated by the local veterinarian today for an insect bite. She had developed a large abscess on the left side of her face which occurred suddenly after being outside in her kennel area. The veterinarian, Ashley Miller, shaved the hair on the abscess, made an incision with a scaple blade, drained the collected fluid and then injected the abscess with antibiotic ointment. Then Angel was prescribed antibiotics (Cephalosorin 250mg) to take twice daily for a week.

Angle after having abscess drained and pumped full of antibiotic ointment. The incision shown in this photograph was made by a scaple blade at the veterinarian's office to drain fluid which also resulted in the area around the incision being blood stained. It was not cleaned because pressure might cause the antibiotic ointment to squeeze out of the opening.

Angel did not have any fever and weighed in at 15.8 pounds. Angel has been eating normally and has been very active, not even seeming to notice the abscess since it occurred. The cost for treatment was $33.50.

I have observed Angel hunting for rodents and spiders, so it may be she was bitten by a spider that she tried to eat. I have also observed and photographed hunting spiders in the back yard. Hunting spiders are very common in eastern Mississippi and some of them can grow quite large. They are easy to discover searching at night with a bright flash light. There are also other spiders which live under debris and in holes inside the ground. Angel has been digging and trying to get at rodents or whatever she happens to smell under the ground, so it is quite possible her "insect bite" was, in fact, a spider bite.

March 25, 2009 -- Angel is doing well. The swollen area on her face was measured at 3.68 cm; it is being monitored as as the drained abscess was pumped full of anitbiotic ointment, this may take time for it to be absorbed by the body. The following account about Angel was sent to an associate:

Angel's War on Rats, Rodents, Spiders and Other Vermin

Angel seems to be at war with the rodents and spiders which inhabit what she has claimed as her territory, the area from the steps of the house extending from the kennel area through the backyard to the fence and as far as she can sniff and see beyond. In fact, Angel seems to have marked her territory from the moment she arrived, brought to me in the middle of the night by a neighbor after she was abandoned, dumped and found, left alone to fend for herself in a cold and cruel world of bigger dogs and even bigger steel clumps of roaring metal moving through the night with bright, beaming eyes!

It is disheartening to think someone would just dump such a sweet and lovable dog out in the middle of the night, then just drive off. But I guess some people just do not have hearts and think it is somehow better to abandon a dog or a baby to the fates, than to try to find a loving home. So it goes with Moses as it goes with every child and every dog or animal abandoned by man since the beginning of time. Thus I refer to Angel as "The God Sent Dog," since she came to me in the middle of the night, abandoned and left to die. What thus comes from Angel's life and mine will be, perhaps, of divine providence, if indeed some divine providence had its hand in bringing Angel into my life.

As I write thunder rumbles in the distance. There is an approaching storm. Perhaps it is a sign I have touched upon God's brow... or just that I make of lightening strike more than the simple discharge between clouds and ground that it is. Ah, is not this what all men have the power to do, when they decide to play god and make their own fate? Can a single man change the world? Can a dog be an angel sent by God? And what does it mean when a God sent dog is at war with rodents and spiders?

With regards to Angel's wound, the swell and abscess on her face, the veterinarian is the one who said it was an "insect bite." It occurred suddenly on March 21st after she was out in her enclosed kennel area. She likes to hunt for rodents and digs, pulling up roots. She also tends to hunt and go after everything which moves. I actually saw her kill a hunting spider three weeks before she got an abscess; I took photographs of that spider and preserved it in alcohol just in case it bit her. But that was three week BEFORE the abscess. So if Angel was bitten or stung on the 21st of March, it was not by the same spider she killed on March 21.

There does not seem to be any pain associated with the abscess which I though most unusual. Nor did it cause any problems with Angel's breathing, eating or other bodily functions. Plus when the abscess was drained Angel's facial hair was shaved and there were no signs of a sting or insect bite on the outside of her face. There certainly was no bee stinger. However, hornet and wasps do not leave stingers in their victims. There are very large bees active now and if stung by one of these they certainly may cause a large swelling in a young puppy. There was no deterioration of the skin as might be the case in the bite of a large, highly venomous spider; nor was there any sign of nervous reaction. I did, however, notice a slight shivering right after the swelling was first observed, so this could have been a response to an insect sting or spider bite. If Angel was bitten it was probably inside the mouth by a spider she dug up out of the ground, and she probably ate or killed the spider in the process, killing it.

There are some pretty big spiders around where I live. After all, this is central Mississippi, and March 21 was the first day of Spring. My home is out in the country and given I have hunted and photographed spiders and wasps in the area, I am quite aware that its a dangerous world out there, especially for a puppy that actually likes to hunt and kill rodents and spiders. But I figure if this is in Angel's genes, it would be a difficult behavior to control. Hopefully in any encounters she does have with insects and spiders in the future she will get the best of them. In fact, I would imagine that she would develop an immunity to bites and stings after a while. This should be the case with rat terriers and other dogs bred to hunt rodents, given certainly they would be bitten by spiders and stung by wasps or hornets in the course of their seeking out rodents. So I would suspect over the many generations that these dogs have been warring against rodents and spiders, the process would have selected for those dogs most resistance to such stings and bites.

Of course Angel is a mixed breed and I don't know what the mix is given she was rescued after being abandoned. Her parents are unknown. So every day she has on this earth is a blessing for both her and me. If she had not been taken in by me or someone else, she would probably have been killed by a car, starved to death over time, or died as a result of disease, parasites and the combination of illnesses associated with being a homeless animal.

I am documenting Angel's life at www.byteland.org/angel, so whatever experiences she has, they will be mentioned. Angel's tale is a real life canine drama; I don't know the future or the outcome. So it may be interesting to see what happens. Of course Angel's tale is not a hands off tale, as Angel is now an adopted dog, and as such is a member of my family. So I have a say in all that happens and will try to make the most out of what comes. For example, I am using photographs I took of Angel when she returned from the veterinarian after having her abscess drained, to promote rescue and adoption of homeless animals. If fact, I had already started doing this with some of the first photographs I took of Angel, as she is a very cute puppy and makes a great "poster child" for homeless animals. That's one reason I call her a "God Sent Dog" as she came to me at a time after I had lost Jade, was looking on the Internet at other dogs available for adoption and wondering what I could do to help all the homeless animals?

So I decided to start Good Shepherd Dog Animal Rescue (GSDAR) at www.byteland.org/gsdar which is now incorporated as a nonprofit organization. You are welcome to join and your membership would be appreciated. If I were Bill Gates I'd take some of the billions of dollars in my coffers and use it to develop facilities in every state to help with the problem of homeless animals. That's what I need, a benefactor, or a few good Samaritans who have more money than they know what to do with and would like to help. But at present it is me and Angel against the world. Even the rats, spiders, wasps and hornets are up against us. But hopefully some progress may be made and those goals which have been set will come to light.

While at the veterinarian's office with Angel a young girl came over to greet Angel, and to see what was wrong with her. I showed her the large swollen area on Angel's face; I think this little girl was the vet's daughter. Angel was very affectionate and greeted the child, who responded by petting Angel. The little girl then went and got a piece of paper and wanted to write down the dog's name. So I told her it was Angel, but she did not know how to spell her name. So I spelled it out slowly, A-N-G-E-L, as the little girl wrote this down. Then she wanted to give the piece of paper to Angel, but I told her to keep it so that she would know from that day on how to spell Angel, and that she was an angel, too. The little girl put the piece of paper with Angel's name in her pocket; then she went back into the clinic where her mother was treating other sick and injured animals.

Later the veterinarian and her assistant came out, drained Angel's abscess and gave Angel antibiotics. Angel is now recovering and seems to be doing well. The swollen area on the left side or her face is still pretty big; it measured 3.68 cm today (25 March); this was injected with antibiotics after draining the fluid in the abscess so it may take some time for the antibiotic ointment to be absorbed and for the swollen area to return to normal. The veterinarian said it should go down, and Angel is scheduled for another check-up in about two weeks, when her second series of inoculations is due. She was due these on the 24th but you can't give vaccinations while on antibiotics, and Angel will be taking the antibiotic Lupin 250 MG (Cephalosporin) for a week.

I'm making some "Don't Shoot The Dog" designs today to promote "Rescue! Spay! Neuter! Foster! Adopt!"

Don't Shoot The Dog

I made another design which say PAWS 911 Save A Life and has byteland.org/paws911 on it. These designs both show Angel with her abscess after it was drained. I would never have thought to make such a promotional design had it not been for Angel's injury. It will be interesting to see if these designs generate any in interest or public support of the plight of homeless animals.

It seems most people don't care about homeless animals. It is a BIG problem. Yet we spend hundreds of billions to bail out Wall Street and save corrupt failed banks which have no interest in supporting either homeless animals or homeless people. In fact, these corrupt financial institutions are part of the problem; they are taking away tax payer dollars that could have been used to solve social problems. It is very bad to save failing, corrupt financial institutions, when there are so many better things that tax payer dollars could be spent upon -- like providing care for homeless people and animals.

I guess it is up to the private sector to do what needs to be done in this regard. Perhaps Angel and I can make some small dent in the problem. It is indeed a war on rodents and rats, but the big ones are those who are corrupt and robbing the public's coffers, bailing out the corrupt bankers and financial institutions. Too bad those in power can't see this simple truth. It hurts everyone!

In kind regards,
Terry and Angel

Angel's Destroyed Property List

Taking in a puppy, which is still developing its adult teeth and chewing, does have its risk. When I brought Angel into my home it was not puppy proof. Although I did take care to remove any small object from her reach, I soon discovered that Angel was a very active and agile dog, that the only real way to put something out of her reach was to put it inside a cabinet, drawer or up very high on a counter. Hence, in the first few days after taking Angel into my home she did chew on and damage or destroy a number of items which I have tallied below with an estimated replacement value attributed to each item.

  1. One throw carpet -- It makes a better chew toy than that rope toy my master bought! -- $20.00
  2. The new digital TV remote. -- Well I thought it was a mouse! I was just protecting the house! Just be glad you caught me when you did, as it still works! -- $30.00
  3. Piece of paper with important list. -- What good is all this scribble but to eat! -- $0.01
  4. One beautiful quilt. -- Hey, it was soft and fury! What else could I do but chew the corner! -- $30.00
  5. Doctor Foster & Smith Catalog -- Look, if I let you keep this around, you might actually buy me all these stupid toys. Besides, it was on the floor. You leave stuff on the floor, it is in my territory; then it's mine to destroy! Plus, they will probably send you a new one next month. $0.50.
  6. The binding on an old Isaac Asimov book. -- Sorry I'm just not into science fiction! Besides, it tasted like a rat! :-) $5.00
  7. Dug and chewed through nylon curtain that was hanging down to the floor. -- Stop your whining! How else was I suppose to deal with that darn curtain dangling down and getting in my way? Besides, it was too long for that window anyway! You need to either sow up the curtains and make them the proper length or get some new ones! $20.00
  8. Chewed through Gigaware CAT5E cable which was repaired so no loss was incurred.

Since I realized that Angel was teething, I have taken greater care to prevent her from damaging other items. However, everyone who adopts a new puppy needs to realize that they do chew on objects while developing teeth. A full set of adult teeth will not be developed before about eight months of age and dogs are not fully mature until about two years of age. Safe methods of controlling behavior at this age include keeping a puppy on lead while in the home and/or inside a crate. In Angel's case I am training her to lay down beside me while I am working at my desk or on the computer; also I am not letting her roam around the house. She now stays by my side and under my watchful eye 24/7 when she is inside the house. When left outside Angle is maintained inside the large kennel which I built for Jade. I am not allowing Angel to roam in the backyard unattended, given that I do not want her to be able to get in contact with other stray dogs that may come over to the fence or to develop any bad habits such as barking at neighbor's dogs. Having a safe and secure kennel area in addition to a fenced yard provides double protection for a dog and is the method I recommend all dog owners use.

Update: 12 Aug. 2009. Now that Angel has all her teeth, she seems to have stopped chewing of things she is not suppose to have in her mouth. Of course she gets her fill of treats and has a Kong toy to chew upon. She loves the Kong toy, especially when it is stuffed with moist kibbles or other treats!

A Letter From Angel, The God Sent Dog

Dear Dog, Cat & Animal Lovers,

Hi! My name is Angel, The God Sent Dog. I'm just a mutt. But in the eyes of the Lord I'm a miracle working dog reaching out to others to save the lives of homeless animals by finding forever homes and loving, caring people to provide forever homes.

AS a working dog; I am trying to encourage responsible people and dog fanciers to adopt a dog and provide a forever home.  I am the official mascot of Good Shepherd Dog Animal Rescue (GSDAR), a nonprofit corporation which was founded to help homeless animals. I am so excited about GSDAR that I'm barking up a storm, trying to get humans to listen and tell them how important it is to rescue homeless animals and give them forever homes.

I am asking everyone to please pray for homeless animals that they may find forever homes. Please tell your family and freinds to come visit me on the net at http://www.byteland.org/angel/index.html.  Although I am just a mutt, do not have wings, and cannot fly, I'm still an angel at heart.  I realized that maybe not everyone is able to adopt a homeless animal.  But there may be other ways you can help.

Just praying for homeless animals will do much.  Plus you can also ask others to pray for homeless animals. You know, many homeless animals that are adopted and given forever homes, bring much love into the lives of the individuals and families which adopt them.  Also often God works in mysterious ways, and adopted dogs have in the past saved the lives of their owners or protected them from hurt, harm or injury.  So there may be more to adopting a homeless animal than you might every have imagined.

Please feel free to share this with your family, friends and associates.  Although I'm just a mutt, I have a big heart and know what it is like to be alone, cold, exposed to the elements and perils of life, without a family or someone that cares and loves her.  Fortunately I now hava a wonderful home and dream that other homeless dogs, cats and animals may one day be as fortunate as I am.  You may be able to help just by passing this bit of barking along.

 Respectfully yours,
Angel
The God Sent Dog

PS My guardian, Terry, helped me with this since all I know how to do is chase chipmunks and squirrels.  Ever since I chewed through the CAT5E cable, whatever that is, Terry has been keeping me away from the computer!  Yum, that sure was a nice chewy cable; if they didn't want dogs chewing on 'em cables they shouldn't have made the taste so good! :-)

Updates Coming Soon

More photos and Angel news are coming soon. Please send any comments to Angel. Angel is learning to use the keyboard via a special canine paw responder which is associated with objects on the monitor that relate to real word objects meaningful to dogs and associated with odors on similar cue cards. So please keep your questions simple and related to topics that may be of particular interest to dogs, such as food, bitches in heat and remote controls that look like mice. :-)

Adopt A Dog Today! It's Pure Love!

Angel urges everyone who is responsible and who loves dogs, to please adopt a dog today! Millions of homeless dogs are destroyed every year by animal control officers and agencies which harvest the dogs from the streets of our cities, then hold them in kennels, often for only a few days, destroying the dogs by lethal injection if no one claims them or adopts them. This is a virtual death sentence for older dogs picked up and taken to the pound. People who do adopt dogs tend to lean toward the adoption of very young puppies, such that an older dog, which may actually have very good qualities and would make a great pet, like Angel, are killed, put in plastic bags, thrown in the dumpster, and carried off to landfills, given no ceremonial burial or any more consideration that garbage! Please help stop this cruelty to animals by adopting a dog today and by urging that your community support a NO KILL policy with respect to animal control and also that animal control be adequately funded and involve an active and on-going community wide campaign and sincere effort to find new homes for lovable dogs like Angel.
